List of Assam Scholarships
Assam has many prestigious institutions, such as the National Institute of Technology, Gauhati University, Tezpur University, etc. The government offers free education up to the age of 14 and is committed to improving the literacy rates among backward communities. Hence, they provide monetary aid through several scholarship schemes to help students study without financial challenges. Given below are the Assam scholarship lists available to the domiciles:

Pre-Matric Assam Scholarships
The Government has launched the pre-matric Assam scholarships to prevent school dropouts of students facing monetary difficulties. The program is available to the domiciles belonging to the SC/ST and OBC. Therefore, children from classes I to X (for OBC category) and IX and X (for SC and ST categories) study at a government-recognized school. The annual family income should be at most INR 2,50,000 for the SC and OBC categories and INR 2,00,000 for the ST category to be eligible. In addition, the Government will disburse variable monetary benefits to the selected students. The details of the Assam scholarship amount are as follows:
For OBC Category
- Day-scholars from class I to X - INR 100 per month
- Hostellers from class III to X - INR 500 per month
- Ad-hoc grant for day-scholars and hostellers - INR 500 per annum
For ST Category
- Day-scholars from class IX to X - INR 150 per month
- Hostellers from class IX to X - INR 350 per month
For SC Category
- Day-scholars from class IX to X - INR 225 per month
- Hostellers from class IX to X - INR 525 per month
Books and Ad-Hoc Grant for SC and ST Categories
- Day-scholars - INR 750 per annum
- Hostellers - INR 1,000 per annum

Post-Matric Assam Scholarships
The Post-matric Assam scholarships are available to the economically weaker sections such as SC/ ST/ OBC categories. Therefore, the permanent residents of Assam pursuing class XI or above can apply to the program. However, the applicants should ensure the family income does not exceed INR 2,50,000 per annum for ST and SC students and INR 1,50,000 per annum for the OBC students. Those selected under the scheme will receive up to INR 1,600 per month.

National Talent Search Exam (NTSE)
The NCERT conducts the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) for class X students. The objective is to recognize and support young aspirants throughout their education. This Assam scholarship scheme is also open to students above 18 years of studying through distance education. The organizers will select the scholars based on their performance in the NTSE exam. Those chosen for the scheme will receive up to INR 2,000 monthly for their education.
Assam Foundation of North America Akadamics Scholarship
The AFNA (Assam Foundation of North America) provides the Akadamic Assam welfare scholarship for students who have cleared the class XII board exams. Therefore, the bonafide residents of Assam pursuing undergraduate degrees with a family income of not more than INR 50,000 per annum can apply to this Assam scholarship 2023 program. The foundation will award the scholars with variable monetary benefits.

Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles
The national defense fund introduces the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for the widows and children of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles (AR) personnel. The scheme is available to students pursuing the first year of professional courses and cleared the previous qualifying exam with a minimum of 60% marks. The deserving candidates will receive an Assam scholarship of up to INR 36,000 annually.
Assam Scholarship 2023 Last Date
The last date to apply for the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for central armed police forces and the Assam rifles is January 20, 2023.
Means cum Merit Assam Scholarship
The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) offers the means cum merit scholarship for Assam students pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree in arts, commerce, or science. To be eligible, they should secure at least 60% marks in the Class XII board exams and not have a family income of more than INR 2,50,000 per annum.
Combined Merit Assam Scholarship
The Directorate of Higher Education in Assam provides the combined merit scholarship to undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing science, arts, or commerce. The domiciles should have secured at least 60% marks in the previous qualifying exam. The providers will offer the Assam scholarship amount to the scholars through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The undergraduate students will receive INR 300 per month, and those pursuing postgraduate degrees will get INR 500 per month for their education.
PG Research Assam Scholarship
Meritorious students pursuing LLM, MPhil, and PhD degrees can apply to this Assam govt scholarship 2023 scheme. The Directorate of Higher Education awards INR 500, INR 700, and INR 1,000 monthly to LLM, MPhil, and PhD students. They should have secured a minimum of 55% marks in the previous qualifying exam and fulfilled other Assam scholarship eligibility criteria. The authorities will select deserving students based on merit and budget allocation.

NCERT Portal
The providers will announce in the leading newspapers when applications are open for the NTSE exam. The candidates can obtain the application form from the Assam liaison officer. They should duly fill out the application form and get a signature from the school principal. Lastly, the students should pay an exam fee (if applicable) and submit the application form at the address provided by the Assam liaison officer.
