PU CET Eligibility Criteria 2025 Highlights

Punjab University will conduct the PU CET 2025 in offline mode. Therefore, candidates who wish to secure admission to the various courses offered by the university must check the eligibility criteria before registering for the examination. The eligibility criteria for appearing in PU CET 2025 are as follows.

Educational Qualifications

All those candidates who have passed/ appeared in the class 10+2 examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or its equivalent examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University/ Council shall be eligible to appear in the PU CET 2025 (UG) entrance exam.

Note: The candidates having the compartment in the 10+2 examination held in March 2025 will not be eligible for admission in the course. The candidates who do not appear in PU CET entrance test or who do not qualify PU CET entrance test shall not be considered for admission.

Nationality

The eligibility criteria for the applicant is to be an Indian citizen. 

NRI

Non-Resident Indians can apply via the NRI quota to meet PU CET eligibility criteria.

Age Limit for PU CET 2025

The applicant must be 17 years of age as of Dec 31 in the year of enrollment to meet the eligibility criteria to apply for PU CET 2025 for the undergraduate courses.

Caste Certificate

Applicants belonging to SC Category must submit the certificate regarding their category duly signed by the officers mentioned in the form. Applications containing the signature of any other officer will not be accepted to get the eligibility criteria.

PU CET Eligibility Criteria 2025 for B.Pharm and B.Sc (Hons)

Candidates who wish to secure admission to B.Pharm and B.Sc (Hons) courses offered by Punjab University must read the following information on the eligibility criteria laid down by the admission authority. Any candidate who does not qualify for PU CET eligibility criteria will not be granted admission to the university. Therefore, check the eligibility criteria for B.Pharm and B.Sc (Hons) below.

Note: Candidates who have been awarded by INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad) can directly join B.Sc. (Hons.) programme at the Department of Mathematics. Such candidates need not appear for the PU CET exam.

Reservation System for PU CET 2025

The applicants will be enrolled under the eligibility criteria laid down by the Chandigarh Administration/ Punjab University, Chandigarh. Applicants who are blind (including colour-blind), deaf, and dumb do not fall under PU CET Eligibility Criteria 2025.

The eligibility criteria for the physically handicapped person are as follows.

Preference 1 Candidate Suffering from Locomotor disabilities of Lower Limbs Between 50% - 70%
Preference 2 Candidates Suffering from Locomotor Disabilities of Lower Limbs Between 40% - 50%

PU CET Seat Reservation 2025

Certain seats will be reserved for specific candidates. The list provided below gives a brief of PU CET Seat Reservation 2025s.

  • One place would be reserved for a foreign student selected by the Indian government.
  • One spot is designated for a student from a state or union territory with limited resources in this subject and expatriates from Myanmar (Burma), Sri Lanka, and other countries.
  • Two places are set aside for students from remote areas.
  • One place has been set aside for a student from the Border Area.
  • Two places are reserved for single female children who do not have male siblings.
  • One spot is reserved for students with cancer, AIDS, or Thalassemia.
  • Other places would be created if needed for children of officers who served during the Kargil war.

Q: What is the PUCET eligibility criteria 2025?

Students who passed/ appeared in the class 10+2 examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or its equivalent examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University/ Council will be eligible to appear for the PUCET 2025 examination.

Q: What is the minimum marks required to qualify the PUCET exam?

A:

Students are required to secure atleast 110+ marks in the Electrical and Mechanical branch in their PUCET exam to qualify. Further for other branches such as civil etc applicants are required to secure 81+ marks. 

Q: How many seats are available for the PUCET exam?

A:

For the PU CET examination there are total 404 seats available for the students. Applicants are advised to prepare well for their examination to secure good marks to qualify the exam and secure their seat in the PUCET admission process.

Q: What is the marking scheme of the PUCET examination?

A:

The PU CET exam consist of total 480 marks. There will be total 240 questions, which means each question carries 2 marks. Further, for each correct response students will be given 2 marks and for each wrong response there will be deduction of 1 mark. In addition, there is no deduction or addition in marks for unanswered questions.

Q: Do we need to give any physical efficiency test for PUCET exam?

Yes for admission into B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed programs applicants are required for the physical efficiency test for the PUCET 2025 examination. Further, the marks achieved in the physical test will be used to prepare the merit list.
