About UTET 2023 Exam
UTET stands for the Uttarakhand Teacher Eligibility Test, which is an exam conducted by the Uttarakhand Board of Secondary Education (UBSE). This exam is conducted for those candidates who aspire to teach the primary and upper primary levels for government and private schools in Uttarakhand. It is a state-level exam and is only confined to schools in Uttarakhand. It is conducted once a year, usually in November.

UTET 2023 Eligibility
The Uttarakhand Board of Secondary Education has a set of educational qualifications necessary for a candidate to appear for the exam. The candidate must abide by these criteria to be able to qualify as teacher. On passing the exams, if the candidate fails to prove their eligibility, the candidate shall not be allowed to teach and such result shall be deemed void. The required educational qualifications for UTET 2023 are as follows.
Primary Exam for class 1 to 5
- Bachelor's Degree with a 50% minimum marks, a minimum of 45% in the 12th standard, and 2 years training in the elementary education under the National Teacher Education Council.
- Higher Secondary with a minimum of 50% marks along with 2 years of Diploma in Elementary education (D.EL.Ed/BTC).
- For Shiksha Mitra personnel, 2 years Diploma (D.EL.Ed) from IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University).
Note: Shiksha Mitra is a scheme with the objective of universalization of Elementary Education in the State of Uttarakhand and to fulfill a large number of vacancies of Teachers in the remote/difficult areas. Enrolled candidates undergo a 2-year long BTC training program at Indira Gandhi National Open University and are then directly absorbed as elementary school teachers post this training.
Upper Primary Exam for class 6 to 8
- A graduate with a minimum of 45% in B. Ed as per NTEC guidelines.
- Graduation in any discipline with 50% marks along with B.Ed.
- SSC or equivalent with 50% minimum marks and a bachelor's degree or 4 years in BA/B.Sc or BA Ed/B.Sc Ed.
