IIT Mandi, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Tirupati, IIT Delhi, ISM Dhanbad, and Indian Institute of Science Bangalore among many others are some of the IIT JAM participating institutes 2025. These prestigious institutes offer M.Sc. and other integrated PhD courses.

IIT JAM 2025, a national-level entrance exam, will be conducted as a computer-based test on Feb 02, 2025, by IIT Delhi. This competitive exam will be taken for more than 2800 seats in 90 postgraduate programs at 21 IITs for the academic year 2025–2026.

1. IIT Mandi

Founded by the Indian government in 2009, IIT Mandi is one of the eight second-generation IITs. In the NIRF ranking 2024, IIT Mandi has secured the 72nd position overall and, 31st in the engineering category.

IIT Mandi provides 33 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs and Integrated PhD programs are available here. Students willing to gain admission through IIT JAM must secure 438 - 830 rank in the exam, as per the IIT Mandi JAM cutoff 2024.

2. IIT Bhubaneswar

IIT Kharagpur served as  IIT Bhubaneswar's mentor institute when it was founded in 2008. In several engineering specialities, the institute provides B.Tech, M.Sc and M.Tech programs.

The Institute aspires to be well-known across the globe for turning out excellent graduates with cutting-edge knowledge. Candidates must secure 106 - 902 ranks for admission to IIT Bhubaneswar through JAM.

3. IIT Tirupati

The Indian Ministry of Education established  IIT Tirupati in 2015. With assistance from IIT Madras, the institute got underway.

Among third-generation IITs, it is the first to have its foundation stone set. IIT Tirupati admissions for 2025 will open soon.

After passing IIT JAM 2025, candidates can register online at the official website. IIT Tirupati admission requires candidates to gain 213 - 727 ranks in the IIT JAM exam.

4. IIT Delhi

Admission is determined by a number of entrance exams, including JEE (Main & Advance) for B.Tech, CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT for MBA, GATE for MBA and M.Tech, and IIT JAM for M.Sc. and integrated PhD.

5. IIT Gandhinagar

The founding year of IIT Gandhinagar was 2008. The Indian government founded it as one of the IITs of the second generation. In several engineering specialities, the institute provides B.Tech and M.Tech programs. 

Its MSc and PhD programs cover all engineering and scientific fields. Assuring food safety and encouraging a healthy diet have led to the campus being named India's first 5-star facility.

The rank required for admission to IIT Gandhinagar through JAM ranges between 340 - 416.

6. IIT Patna

The Indian Institute of Technology Patna, also known as IITP or IIT Patna, is a public technical university and research institute in Bihta, Bihar. The Indian government has designated it as an Institute of National Importance.

It is one of the IITs from the second generation that were founded on August 6, 2008, by an Act of the Indian Parliament. Located near Bihta, roughly 30 km west of Patna, the permanent campus of IIT Patna has been fully operational since 2015.

Students must gain a rank between 480 - 556 in the IIT JAM exam for admission to this institute.

7. ISM Dhanbad

The Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad, is located in the city of Dhanbad, which is home to the mineral-rich region of India. After IIT Roorkee and IIT (BHU) Varanasi, it is the third-oldest institute that became an IIT.

The Royal School of Mines in London served as the model for the establishment of the British Indian Government, and on December 9, 1926, Lord Irwin, the Viceroy of India at the time, formally opened it. When the institute was first established, its primary course offerings were in applied geology and mining engineering. 

The institute was renamed the Indian School of Mines in 1957 when it started to offer courses in Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics. It accepts admission with a JAM rank between 94 - 1093.

8. IIT BHU

In 2012, parliamentary legislation established BHU as an institute of national importance. IIT BHU provides graduate and undergraduate courses at different levels.

The TPO/TPC at IIT BHU is renowned as well. TP The Training and Placement Cell of the institute is called IIT BHU. 

Pre-placement discussions, written or online exams, group discussions, and interviews are all conducted by the cell in order to hire interns. Numerous engineering, technological, and current science fields are covered in the undergraduate and graduate courses offered by IIT Varanasi.

To gain admission at IIT BHU through IIT JAM, candidates must secure a rank between 345 and 422.

9. IIT Guwahati

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, also known as IITG or IIT Guwahati, was founded in 1994. It is the IIT's sixth member. According to the NIRF ranking 2024, the institute ranks ninth overall and seventh in the engineering sector. 

It is one of the best engineering schools in the nation, offering a program that is intellectual and has reasonable placement rates. IIT Guwahati accepts admission with a rank between 74 and 575 in IIT JAM.

10. IIT Madras

Located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, also referred to as IITM or IIT Madras, is a public technological institution. It is one of India's eight publicly accessible Institutes of Eminence. 

IIT Madras is acknowledged as an Institute of National Importance in addition to being one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). It was the third Indian Institute of Technology to be founded by the Indian government, having received financial and technical support from the former West German government in 1959.

11. IIT Jodhpur

In 2008, the Ministry of Human Resource Development established IIT Jodhpur. The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act of 2012 gave the institute recognition as an independent, nationally significant institution in 2011.

For 2025 admission to M.Sc courses candidates must secure a rank between 283 and 982.

12. IIT Bombay

Located in Powai, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is a public research university and technological institute. In 1958, IIT Bombay was established, and the IITs were designated as Institutes of National Importance by the Parliament in 1961. 

To chart the course for the growth of technical education in the nation in 1946, a committee appointed by the Indian government suggested the creation of four higher colleges of technology. The IIT JAM rank required for admission to this institute ranges between 16 to 745.

13. IIT Palakkad

In 2015, the Ministry of Human Resource Development [MHRD] founded IIT Palakkad. According to the NIRF rankings in 2024, the institute ranked 64th in the engineering category.

Currently operating as a temporary campus, IIT Palakkad will soon have a 500-acre main campus situated at the base of the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 2024 JAM cutoff rank for IIT Palakkad is between 102 and 915.

14. IIT Hyderabad

With financial and technical support from the Japanese government, IIT Hyderabad was founded in 2008. Nine undergraduate, twenty postgraduate, five M.Phil., and Ph.D. programs in all fields of science, engineering, design, and liberal arts are available at the institute. 

National-level entrance exams are used to offer admission to the relevant courses. Telangana's finest university overall across all categories, according to the NIRF Ranking 2024, is IIT Hyderabad.

Candidates willing to gain admission to IIT Hyderabad through JAM must gain a rank between 287 and 539, as per the JAM cutoff 2024.

15. IIT Kharagpur

Founded in 1951, IIT Kharagpur is a state-funded technical university. Being founded and acknowledged as an Institute of National Importance, it is among the first IITs. 

In terms of overall rankings and NIRF Engineering colleges, IIT Kharagpur comes in at number 5. Furthermore, in 2019, IIT KGP was granted the title of Institute of Eminence.

In Kharagpur, the Indian Institute of Technology provides undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs. B.Tech, MTech, and PhD are a few of these. IIT Kharagpur accepts JAM rank between 71 - 599.

16. IIT Indore

Located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is a nationally significant institution. IIT Indore was established in 2009. 

This is one of the eight recently established Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) that the Indian government launched in 2009. The Indian government formally recognizes IIT Indore as an Institute of National Importance.

IIT Indore admission through JAM requires candidates to secure a rank between 48 and 668, based on the IIT JAM 2024 rank cutoff.

17. IIT Roorkee

The Indian Institute of Technology known as IIT Roorkee, is situated in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. The institute offers 83 courses in areas such as engineering, business, humanities, social sciences, and applied sciences.

Candidates must secure a rank between 27 and 272 in IIT JAM for admission to this institute.

18. IIT Bhilai

On August 7, 2016, the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai was officially opened by the Honourable Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Raman Singh, and the Honourable Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Prakash Javedakar. The IIT Bhilai permanent campus is a fully self-sufficient residential campus that will be established gradually over time.

It is projected that the campus will grow to accommodate 12,000 students in 20 years. The current phase of IIT Bhilai's permanent campus, which will house 1200 students and faculty personnel, is being built near Kutelabhata hamlet in Bhilai, District Durg.

Candidates willing to gain admission to IIT Bhilai through JAM must qualify for the cutoff rank of 498 - 908.

19. IIT Kanpur

Located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, the Indian Institute of Technical Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) is a public technical institute. In accordance with the Institutes of Technology Act, the Indian government designated it as an Institute of National Importance. 

One of India's most esteemed academic institutions, the university was founded in 1959 with support from a group of nine US research universities as part of the Kanpur Indo-American Programme (KIAP). It accepts a JAM rank range of 100 - 399 for admission to M.Sc. courses.

20. IIT Ropar

In 2008, the Ministry of Human Resource Development established IIT Ropar. As one of the eight newly established IITs, it gained recognition as a stand-alone, nationally significant institution in 2011 following a revision to the IIT Act. 

The permanent campus spans 525 acres and showcases architecture from the Indus Valley Civilization. Based on a building's long-term performance, the institute has been awarded the highest Green certification for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) certification. 

IIT Ropar provides a plethora of resources and chances for its students to develop and realize their goals. Candidates must gain a rank between 406 and 618 in JAM.

21. Indian Institute of Science Bangalore

The idea for IISc Bangalore was developed in the late 1800s. Tata Group appointed educationist Burjorji Padshah to head a temporary group tasked with creating a blueprint for the planned institution.

The institute now has over 40 departments spread across six divisions: Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Electrical Sciences, Interdisciplinary Research, Mechanical Sciences, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Initially, the college only had two departments: General and Applied Chemistry and Electrical Technology. 

In the most recent QS Rankings for Asian Universities, 2025, IISc has been placed 211st in the world. The candidates must gain a rank of 150 for admission to M.Sc. Life Science course.
