IIT JAM Participating Institutes 2024: List of Colleges, Ranking, Seats

IIT JAM Participating Institutes 2024 are IIT Mandi, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Tirupati, IIT Delhi, ISM Dhanbad, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore among many others. 

On February 11, 2024, IIT Madras is going to conduct the computer-based IIT JAM 2024 exam. There will be 100 cities nationwide where IIT JAM 2024 exam centres are situated and the exams will be taken for 2800 seats in 90 postgraduate programs at 21 IITs for the academic year 2024–2025.

1. IIT Mandi

Founded by the Indian government in 2009, IIT Mandi is one of the eight second-generation IITs. In the NIRF ranking 2022, IIT Mandi came in at number 43rd overall and, in the engineering category, at number twenty-one. 

• JEE Advanced is used to determine who gets admitted to IIT Mandi's B.Tech program.
• IIT Mandi provides 33 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, and Integrated PhD programs are available here.

2. IIT Bhubaneswar

IIT Kharagpur served as IIT Bhubaneswar's mentor institute when it was founded in 2008. In a number of engineering specialities, the institute provides B.Tech and M.Tech programs.

3. IIT Tirupati

The Indian Ministry of Education established IIT Tirupati in 2015. With assistance from IIT Madras, the institute got underway. Among the three IITs of the third generation, it is the first to have its foundation stone set. 

• IIT Tirupati admissions for 2024 will open soon. After passing JEE Main, candidates can register online at the official website.

4. IIT Delhi

IIT Delhi seeks to be a source of pride for all Indians while making a significant contribution to industry, society, and the world via excellence in scientific and technical teaching and research. 

• Admission to undergraduate and graduate programs at IIT Delhi for the year 2024 is now being processed. 
• Admission is determined by a number of entrance exams, including JEE (Main & Advance) for B.Tech, CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT for MBA, and GATE for MBA and M.Tech, in that order.

5. IIT Gandhinagar

The founding year of IIT Gandhinagar was 2008. The Indian government founded it as one of the IITs of the second generation. In a number of engineering specialities, the institute provides B.Tech and M.Tech programs.

6. IIT Patna

The Indian Institute of Technology Patna, also known as IITP or IIT Patna, is a public technical university and research institute in Bihta, Bihar. The Indian government has designated it as an Institute of National Importance.

•  It is one of the IITs from the second generation that were founded on August 6, 2008, by an Act of the Indian Parliament.
• Located near Bihta, roughly 30 km west of Patna, the permanent campus of IIT Patna has been fully operational since 2015.

7. ISM Dhanbad

The Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad, is located in the city of Dhanbad, which is home to the mineral-rich region of India. After IIT Roorkee and IIT (BHU) Varanasi, it is the third-oldest institute that became an IIT.

• The Royal School of Mines in London served as the model for the establishment of the British Indian Government, and on December 9, 1926, Lord Irwin, the Viceroy of India at the time, formally opened it.
• When the institute was first established, its primary course offerings were in applied geology and mining engineering. 
• The institute was renamed the Indian School of Mines in 1957 when it started to offer courses in Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics.

8. IIT BHU

In 2012, parliamentary legislation established IIT BHU as an institute of national importance. IIT BHU provides graduate and undergraduate courses at different levels.  

• The TPO/TPC at IIT BHU is renowned as well. TP The Training and Placement Cell of the institute is called IIT BHU. 
• Pre-placement discussions, written or online exams, group discussions, and interviews are all conducted by the cell in order to hire interns. 
• Numerous engineering, technological, and current science fields are covered in the undergraduate and graduate courses offered by IIT Varanasi.

9. IIT Guwahati

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, also known as IITG or IIT Guwahati, was founded in 1994. It is the IIT's sixth member. According to the NIRF ranking 2022, the institute ranks eighth overall and seventh in the engineering sector. 

• JEE Advanced results are used to determine admission to the B.Tech program. GATE cutoff scores will determine admission to M.Tech programs.
• Seventh on the list of India's Best IITs is IIT Guwahati, It is one of the best engineering schools in the nation, offering a program that is intellectual and has reasonable placement rates.

10. IIT Madras

Located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, also referred to as IITM or IIT Madras, is a public technological institution. It is one of India's eight publicly accessible Institutes of Eminence. 

• IIT Madras is acknowledged as an Institute of National Importance in addition to being one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

11. IIT Jodhpur

In 2008, the Ministry of Human Resource Development established IIT Jodhpur. The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act of 2012 gave the institute recognition as an independent, nationally significant institution in 2011. 

• B.Tech admissions are determined on the results of the JEE (Advanced) exam and JoSAA counselling.
• For 2024, admissions to M.Tech programs based on the GATE cutoff are already underway.

12. IIT Bombay

Located in Powai, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is a public research university and technological institute.

• In 1958, IIT Bombay was established, and the IITs were designated as Institutes of National Importance by the Parliament in 1961.

13. IIT Palakkad

In 2015, the Ministry of Human Resource Development [MHRD] founded IIT Palakkad. According to the NIRF rankings in 2022, the institute is ranked 68th in the engineering category. B.Tech candidates are admitted to the institute through the JEE Advanced exam, which is scheduled for August 28, 2022. 

• GATE is the entrance exam for M.Tech admission, and the exam for 2023 is held in February of that year. 
• Currently operating as a temporary campus, IIT Palakkad will soon have a 500-acre main campus situated at the base of the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

14. IIT Hyderabad

With financial and technical support from the Japanese government, IIT Hyderabad was founded in 2008. Nine undergraduate, twenty postgraduate, five M.Phil., and Ph.D. programs in all fields of science, engineering, design, and liberal arts are available at the institute. 

• National-level entrance exams are used to offer admission to the relevant courses.

15. IIT Kharagpur

Founded in 1951, IIT Kharagpur is a state-funded technical university. Being founded and acknowledged as an Institute of National Importance, it is among the first IITs. 

• In terms of overall rankings and NIRF Engineering colleges, IIT Kharagpur comes in at number six. 
• Furthermore, in 2019, IIT KGP was granted the title of Institute of Eminence.

16. IIT Indore

Located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is a nationally significant institution. IIT Indore was established in 2009.

17. IIT Roorkee

The Indian Institute of Technology known as IIT Roorkee, is situated in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India.

18. IIT Bhilai

On August 7, 2016, the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai was officially opened by the Honourable Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Raman Singh, and the Honourable Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Prakash Javedakar. 

• The IIT Bhilai permanent campus is a fully self-sufficient residential campus that will be established gradually over time. It is projected that the campus will grow to accommodate 12,000 students in 20 years. 
• The current phase of IIT Bhilai's permanent campus, which will house 1200 students and faculty personnel, is being built near Kutelabhata hamlet in Bhilai, District Durg.

19. IIT Kanpur

Located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, the Indian Institute of Technical Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) is a public technical institute. In accordance with the Institutes of Technology Act, the Indian government designated it as an Institute of National Importance. 

• One of India's most esteemed academic institutions.

20. IIT Ropar

In 2008, the Ministry of Human Resource Development established IIT Ropar. According to the Institutes of Technology Act of 1961, it is one of the 23 IITs in India. As one of the eight newly established IITs, it gained recognition as a stand-alone, nationally significant institution in 2011 following a revision to the IIT Act. 

• The permanent campus spans 525 acres and showcases architecture from the Indus Valley Civilization. 
• Based on a building's long-term performance, the institute has been awarded the highest Green certification for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) certification. 
• IIT Ropar, regarded as the greatest among the recently founded IITs, provides a plethora of resources and chances for its students to develop and realize their goals.

21. Indian Institute of Science Bangalore

The idea for IISc Bangalore was developed in the late 1800s. Tata group appointed educationist Burjorji Padshah to head a temporary group tasked with creating a blueprint for the planned institution.

• The institute now has over 40 departments spread across six divisions: Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Electrical Sciences, Interdisciplinary Research, Mechanical Sciences, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
•  Initially, the college only had two departments: General and Applied Chemistry and Electrical Technology. 
• In the most recent QS Rankings for Asian Universities, 2021, IISc was placed 56th.
