1. IIT Mandi

Founded by the Indian government in 2009, IIT Mandi is one of the eight second-generation IITs. In the NIRF ranking 2024, IIT Mandi has secured the 72nd position overall and, 31st in the engineering category.

IIT Mandi provides 33 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs and Integrated PhD programs are available here. Students willing to gain admission through IIT JAM must secure 438 - 830 rank in the exam, as per the IIT Mandi JAM cutoff 2024.

2. IIT Bhubaneswar

3. IIT Tirupati

4. IIT Delhi

5. IIT Gandhinagar

The founding year of IIT Gandhinagar was 2008. The Indian government founded it as one of the IITs of the second generation. In several engineering specialities, the institute provides B.Tech and M.Tech programs.

6. IIT Patna

The Indian Institute of Technology Patna, also known as IITP or IIT Patna, is a public technical university and research institute in Bihta, Bihar. The Indian government has designated it as an Institute of National Importance.

It is one of the IITs from the second generation that were founded on August 6, 2008, by an Act of the Indian Parliament. Located near Bihta, roughly 30 km west of Patna, the permanent campus of IIT Patna has been fully operational since 2015.

Students must gain a rank between 480 - 556 in the IIT JAM exam for admission to this institute.

7. ISM Dhanbad

The Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad, is located in the city of Dhanbad, which is home to the mineral-rich region of India. After IIT Roorkee and IIT (BHU) Varanasi, it is the third-oldest institute that became an IIT.

The Royal School of Mines in London served as the model for the establishment of the British Indian Government, and on December 9, 1926, Lord Irwin, the Viceroy of India at the time, formally opened it. When the institute was first established, its primary course offerings were in applied geology and mining engineering. 

The institute was renamed the Indian School of Mines in 1957 when it started to offer courses in Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics. It accepts admission with a JAM rank between 94 - 1093.

8. IIT BHU

In 2012, parliamentary legislation established BHU as an institute of national importance. IIT BHU provides graduate and undergraduate courses at different levels.

The TPO/TPC at IIT BHU is renowned as well. TP The Training and Placement Cell of the institute is called IIT BHU. 

Pre-placement discussions, written or online exams, group discussions, and interviews are all conducted by the cell in order to hire interns. Numerous engineering, technological, and current science fields are covered in the undergraduate and graduate courses offered by IIT Varanasi.

9. IIT Guwahati

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, also known as IITG or IIT Guwahati, was founded in 1994. It is the IIT's sixth member. According to the NIRF ranking 2024, the institute ranks ninth overall and seventh in the engineering sector. 

It is one of the best engineering schools in the nation, offering a program that is intellectual and has reasonable placement rates. IIT Guwahati accepts admission with a rank between 74 and 575 in IIT JAM.

10. IIT Madras

11. IIT Jodhpur

12. IIT Bombay

Located in Powai, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is a public research university and technological institute. In 1958, IIT Bombay was established, and the IITs were designated as Institutes of National Importance by the Parliament in 1961.

13. IIT Palakkad

14. IIT Hyderabad

15. IIT Kharagpur

Founded in 1951, IIT Kharagpur is a state-funded technical university. Being founded and acknowledged as an Institute of National Importance, it is among the first IITs. 

In terms of overall rankings and NIRF Engineering colleges, IIT Kharagpur comes in at number 5. Furthermore, in 2019, IIT KGP was granted the title of Institute of Eminence.

In Kharagpur, the Indian Institute of Technology provides undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs. B.Tech, MTech, and PhD are a few of these. IIT Kharagpur accepts JAM rank between 71 - 599.

16. IIT Indore

Located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is a nationally significant institution. IIT Indore was established in 2009. 

This is one of the eight recently established Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) that the Indian government launched in 2009. The Indian government formally recognizes IIT Indore as an Institute of National Importance.

17. IIT Roorkee

18. IIT Bhilai

On August 7, 2016, the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai was officially opened by the Honourable Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Raman Singh, and the Honourable Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Prakash Javedakar. The IIT Bhilai permanent campus is a fully self-sufficient residential campus that will be established gradually over time.

It is projected that the campus will grow to accommodate 12,000 students in 20 years. The current phase of IIT Bhilai's permanent campus, which will house 1200 students and faculty personnel, is being built near Kutelabhata hamlet in Bhilai, District Durg.

Candidates willing to gain admission to IIT Bhilai through JAM must qualify for the cutoff rank of 498 - 908.

19. IIT Kanpur

Located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, the Indian Institute of Technical Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) is a public technical institute. In accordance with the Institutes of Technology Act, the Indian government designated it as an Institute of National Importance. 

One of India's most esteemed academic institutions, the university was founded in 1959 with support from a group of nine US research universities as part of the Kanpur Indo-American Programme (KIAP). It accepts a JAM rank range of 100 - 399 for admission to M.Sc. courses.

20. IIT Ropar

The permanent campus spans 525 acres and showcases architecture from the Indus Valley Civilization. Based on a building's long-term performance, the institute has been awarded the highest Green certification for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) certification. 

IIT Ropar provides a plethora of resources and chances for its students to develop and realize their goals. Candidates must gain a rank between 406 and 618 in JAM.

21. Indian Institute of Science Bangalore

The idea for IISc Bangalore was developed in the late 1800s. Tata Group appointed educationist Burjorji Padshah to head a temporary group tasked with creating a blueprint for the planned institution.

The institute now has over 40 departments spread across six divisions: Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Electrical Sciences, Interdisciplinary Research, Mechanical Sciences, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Initially, the college only had two departments: General and Applied Chemistry and Electrical Technology. 

In the most recent QS Rankings for Asian Universities, 2026, IISc has been placed 211st in the world. The candidates must gain a rank of 150 for admission to M.Sc. Life Science course.
