KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship

Pratibha scholarship was initiated by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE) under the Students with Talent and Aptitude for Research in Science (STARS) scheme for meritorious students who have completed their Higher Secondary Education from Kerala. The scholarship is exclusively for students who wish to pursue B.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. or PG Course in Basic / Natural sciences. 

The scholarship is divided into two categories:

KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship Part A

• This scholarship is awarded class 12 students who wish to study a bachelor's degree in Basic and Natural Sciences.
• The scholarship is awarded for those program with three years course duration. 
• It is also awarded for the first 3 years of integrated M.Sc courses.

KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship Part B

• For students to avail Part B of the scholarships for their post-graduate in Basic or Natural Sciences, they must already be a recipient of KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship Part A.
• The Part B scholarship is provided for M.Sc courses and 4th and 5th semesters of integrated M.Sc courses.

KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is available for students who want to pursue a degree in Pure Science and continue further studies along the same lines. The detailed eligibility criteria are as mentioned:

• The candidate should be a native of Kerala and passed his/ her Higher Secondary Examination from Kerala (ICSE/ CBSE/ Kerala State Board).
• Should have an average of 90% or an equivalent cumulative grade in all subjects combined.
• Should have an average of 90% or an equivalent cumulative grade in all the science subjects put together.
• For SC/ ST the average is relaxed to 80% or an equivalent cumulative grade.
• The candidate must have taken admission to a Bachelor's or Master's or Integrated Bachelor's cum Master's Degree in Basic and Natural Sciences.

KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship Rewards

• 100 Scholarships are granted every year.
• 10% of the scholarships are reserved for SC/ ST students.
• 50% of the scholarships are reserved for female candidates.

KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship Application Process

Candidates have to apply online for the scholarship. The detailed application procedure is mentioned below:

• Candidates must visit the official KSCSTE Pratibha scholarship website.
• Click on 'applications are invited for Pratibha Scholarship'.
• Candidates must read the instructions carefully before filling the application form.
• Candidates must then click on the 'registration' link and proceed with 'new registration'.
• Candidates must fill in the application form and get the datasheet generated, endorsed by Head of the Institution where they have taken admission.
• The datasheet along with the important documents should be mailed to The Director, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment, SasthraBhavan, Pattom P.O Thiruvananthapuram – 695 004.

Documents Required

• Caste Certificate (if applicable)
• Certificate of 'proof of origin'  (scholarship is applicable only for natives of Kerala)
• Status Verification Certificate

KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship Selection Process

100 scholarships are granted every year. The detailed selection procedure is mentioned below:

• Shortlisting of students takes place through a preliminary examination
• A provisional rank list is made for the same
• The rank list is made taking into consideration the information in the datasheet, the Higher Secondary Marks, and performance in the preliminary examination. 
• Top 100 are granted the scholarship (10% reservation for SC/ ST)

Important Dates

The key dates are as follows:

• Application starting date: January 17th, 2023
• Application closing date: January 16th, 2023
