Eligibility Criteria of Swarnajayanti Fellowship
The government of India launched the Swarnajayanti fellowship DST scheme in commemoration of the fiftieth year of Indian independence. Interested candidates should ensure they fulfil all the requirements before applying for the programme. The Swarnajayanti fellowship eligibility criteria are as follows:
- The candidates should be citizens of India.
- They should be between 30 to 40 years of age.
- They should hold a PhD degree in medicine, engineering or science.
- They should hold a regular position in a research or an academic organisation recognised by the Indian government.
- The candidates should not be receiving benefits from any other fellowship schemes under the government of India.
Rewards of Swarnajayanti Fellowship
The selected fellows will gain flexibility in terms of expenditure originally approved by the parent institution for their research plan. However, the scientists should ensure their project involves a unique and innovative research concept that has the potential of making an impact in the R & D department of their respective discipline. The scientists can enjoy the benefits of the Swarnajayanti fellowship 2021 for a period not exceeding more than five years.
Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) funds the DST Swarnajayanti fellowship programme. They will grant the scientists a fellowship amount of INR 25,000 every month. The selected fellows will receive the Swarnajayanti fellowship amount in addition to the salary obtained by them from the parent institution.
How to Apply for the Swarnajayanti Fellowship?
Interested candidates eligible for the DST Swarnajayanti fellowship programme can apply to the programme by March 31st, 2021. The candidates should submit their applications only through the online mode. The Department of Science and Technology (DST) will not entertain the hard copies of the application form sent to them.
The applicants can visit the official Swarnajayanti fellowship scheme on the DST portal. They can start submitting the applications from February 11th, 2021, in the prescribed format. Additionally, they may have to share more details and submit their project idea before the final selection of candidates. If any corrections are required, the candidates should inform the DST by June 30th, 2021.
