The Medhabruti scholarship is awarded by the Government of Odisha to encourage and motivate deserving students from economically weak backgrounds to pursue higher education in the General, Technical, and Professional fields. The Higher Education Department under the Government of Odisha disburses 24,500 e-Medhabruti scholarships every year on a merit-cum-mean basis to the students who are a domicile of the state. The tentative last date to apply for the Medhabruti scholarship is February 22, 2023.

Medhabruti Scholarship Program Types

The different scholarship programs under e-Medhabruti scholarship scheme are given below:

Medhabruti Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The Medhabruti scholarship scheme provides financial assistance to the students who are domicile of Odisha. The other eligibility criteria for the scholarship application and the list of the technical courses that are eligible for the scholarship are given below:

Medhabruti Junior Merit Scholarship

  • The applicant should be pursuing a regular full-time +2 course of the 10+2 pattern.
  • He/ she should be a domicile of Odisha state.
  • The candidate should have passed HSC from a recognized institute under BSE Odisha/ CBSE/ ICSE/ Equivalent Board with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 6,00,000 from all sources.
  • The students pursuing higher education through distance learning/ correspondence are not eligible to apply.
  • Students from any other state are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.

2.

Medhabruti Senior Merit Scholarship

  • The applicant should be pursuing a regular degree course/ +3 course from any recognized university/ institution.
  • He/ she should be a domicile of Odisha state.
  • The students should have passed the +2 of CHSE Odisha/ Class 12/ equivalent exam from a recognized institute under BSE Odisha/ CBSE/ ICSE/ equivalent board with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 6,00,000 from all sources.
  • The students pursuing higher education through distance learning/ correspondence are not eligible to apply.
  • Students from any other state are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.

3.

Medhabruti PG Merit Scholarship

  • The applicant should be pursuing a regular course from one of the many disciplines covered under the scheme from a recognized college/ university/ institution.
  • He/ she should be a domicile of Odisha state.
  • The candidate should have passed the +3 degree course or equivalent with at least 60% marks from a recognized university/ institution.
  • Students pursuing BEd, MEd, MPhil, and Ph.D. are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 6,00,000 from all sources.
  • The students pursuing higher education through distance learning/ correspondence are not eligible to apply.
  • Students from any other state are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Medhabruti Technical and Professional Merit Scholarship

  • The applicant should be pursuing a regular technical/ professional course in any of the fields covered under the scheme from any college/ university/ institute recognized by the respective regulatory bodies.
  • They should be a domicile of Odisha state.
  • The student should have passed +2 of CHSE/ CBSE/ ICSE/ equivalent exam or a +3 year degree/ equivalent 3-year course(such as MBA/ MCA/ MFC/ MSW) from a recognized university/ institute with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • The candidates pursuing Diploma are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • Students pursuing BEd, MEd, MPhil, and Ph.D. are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 6,00,000 from all sources.
  • The students pursuing higher education through distance learning/ correspondence are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates from any other state are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Medhabruti Scholarship Rewards and Benefits

The Medhabruti scholarship covers the financial cost of higher studies of the selected students. The scholarship amount is disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly to the candidates’ bank account. The scholarship benefits offered by the different e-Medhabruti scholarship schemes are given below:

  • 10000 scholarships are provided with 5000 for female candidates and 5000 for male candidates.
  • Selected candidates get a scholarship amount of INR 3000 per annum.
  • The scholarship is awarded for a period of 2 years.

Medhabruti Senior Merit Scholarship

  • 3000 scholarships are provided with 1500 for female candidates and 1500 for male candidates.
  • Selected candidates get a scholarship amount of INR 5000 per annum.
  • The scholarship is awarded for a period of 3 years.

Medhabruti PG Merit Scholarship

  • 1500 scholarships are provided with 750 for female candidates and 750 for male candidates.
  • Selected candidates get a scholarship amount of INR 10,000 per annum.
  • The scholarship is awarded for a period of 2 years.

Medhabruti Technical and Professional Merit Scholarship

  • 10000 scholarships are provided to the selected students.
  • Selected candidates get a scholarship amount of INR 10,000 per annum.
  • The scholarship is awarded as per the duration of the course.

Medhabruti Scholarship Application Process

The Medhabruti scholarship application form is accessed online on the official website of the Medhabruti scholarship. The step by step application process is explained below:

  • Interested applicants should visit the Medhabruti Scholarship online portal.
  • They should click on the ‘application for Medhabruti’ link displayed on the right side of the homepage and choose the scholarship based on the eligibility requirements.
  • The candidate should fill in all the required details in the Medhabruti scholarship application form such as name, address, contact number, signature, etc.
  • The applicant should also enter the valid bank account details where the scholarship amount needs to be credited.
  • The candidate should then take 2 print outs of the completed application form.
  • They should sign one of the application form copy and submit it to the principal of the respective college/institute.
  • The other copy of the application form should be kept for future reference.
  • The principal of the institute should further send the application to the Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha.

Medhabruti Scholarship Documents Required

The important documents to be uploaded along with the Medhabruti scholarship application form are listed below:

  • Copy of residence certificate issued by the Tahsildar or any other competent authority.
  • Citizen proof of the candidate’s parents issued by the organization (if the parent works under the Government of Odisha).
  • Income certificate issued by the revenue officer.
  • Mark sheet and certificates of the last qualifying examination.
  • Copy of the first page of the applicants’ bank passbook having the IFSC code and account number.

Medhabruti Scholarship Selection Criteria

The Medhabruti scholarship is a merit-cum-means scholarship. The candidates are selected based on merit and financial condition of the family. The detailed selection criteria are explained below:

  • All the candidates should meet the eligibility requirements for the different divisions of merit under the Medhabruti scholarship.
  • The applicant should have a student record that is certified/ authenticated online by the Principal of the respective college/institute.
  • The marks scored by the student in the last qualifying exams are also considered for the selection process.
  • If two candidates have the same score in the last qualifying examination, then the annual family income of the candidate is taken into account, and preference is given to the candidate with lower family income.
  • The Medhabruti scholarship results list is displayed online on the scholarship portal.

Medhabruti Scholarship Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions to be considered for the Medhaburti scholarship are listed below:

  • The scholarships are distributed equally among male and female candidates.
  • The applicant should not perform multiple registration/applications as it would lead to the dismissal of the scholarship application.
  • Incorrect data or documents submitted for verification will lead to the cancellation of the scholarship.
  • The candidates should keep a copy of the submitted application for future references.
  • The applications that are not approved/ authenticated by the respective university/ institute are considered invalid.
