The ISDB scholarship is a fully funded scholarship for Muslim students to pursue higher education in Saudi Arabia. The scholarship is an initiative of the Islamic Development Bank and has been working towards innovation and knowledge sharing between the non-member countries and Muslim people of the member countries and to enhance the abilities of the qualified male and female learners. 

The ISDB scholarship is provided to students pursuing Undergraduate, Postgraduate, PhD, and Postdoctoral studies. The ISDB scholarship last date 2024 is May 15, 2024 (tentative).

ISDB Scholarship Program Types

The different scholarships offered under the ISDB scholarship scheme are given below:

  • ISDB Undergraduate Scholarship Program
  • ISDB Master’s Scholarship Program
  • ISDB Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral Research Program

ISDB Scholarship Eligibility Criteria 2023-24

The ISDB scholarship 2024 is provided to Muslim students belonging to the ISDB member countries. The other eligibility criteria are given below:

ISDB Undergraduate Scholarship Program

  • The applicant should be a citizen of any ISDB member country or a Muslim student from a non-member country.
  • They must have completed senior secondary education or equivalent 12 years of education.
  • The candidate should have scored good grades in all the major subjects.
  • The applicant should not have received any other scholarship at the time of application or during the scholarship term.
  • The candidate should be medically fit. 
 

ISDB Master’s Scholarship Program

  • The applicant should be a citizen of any ISDB member country or a Muslim student from a non-member country.
  • The candidate should be a graduate with good academic grades.
  • The applicant should not have received any other scholarship at the time of application or during the scholarship term.
  • The candidate should be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection.
 

ISDB Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral Research Program

Ph.D. level Eligibility Criteria:

    • The applicant should have a postgraduate degree in one of the approved fields of Sustainable Science.
    • They should have an excellent academic record, preferably with work/ research experience.
    • The candidate should have a research proposal in one of the program's fields of study, including details of its scientific and developmental relevance to the community/ country.
    • The applicant should be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

Post-doctoral Research Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree in one of the approved fields of sustainable science.
  • They must have a very good academic record with 2 years of research experience.
  • The candidate should have a record of publications/ research in the same field.
  • The applicant should have a research proposal in one of the fields of study of the program including details of its scientific and development relevance to the community/ country.
  • The candidate should be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

ISDB Scholarship Rewards and Benefits

The different scholarship programs under the ISDB scholarship offer additional benefits to the candidates. The scholarship benefits are given below:

ISDB Undergraduate Scholarship Program Benefits

  • The ISDB scholarship amount facilitates the full tuition fee waiver provided directly to the university.
  • The candidates are provided with a monthly living allowance, including living expenses and medical expenses at the government/ university hospitals.
  • The students are provided with economy class return air tickets (to and from the country of study).
  • Installation and equipment allowance is given to students selected to study abroad at the partnered universities/ countries.
  • The selected candidates undergo a mentorship program with extracurricular activities to ensure the candidate's academic progress and social and psychological integration in the university and the outside community.

ISDB Master's Scholarship Program Benefits

  • The candidates will receive a monthly stipend equivalent to the cost of living in the country of study.
  • The ISDB scholarship amount covers the tuition fees for the Ph.D. study subject to ISDB's approval.
  • Medical treatment costs at the government/ university hospital are covered.
  • The students are provided with economy class return air tickets (to and from the country of study).
  • Installation and equipment allowance is given to students selected to study abroad at the partnered universities/ countries.
  • A thesis preparation allowance is provided to the candidates.

ISDB Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral Research Program Scholarship Benefits

  • The candidates will receive a monthly stipend equivalent to the cost of living in the country of study.
  • The ISDB scholarship amount covers the tuition fees for the Ph.D. study subject to ISDB's approval.
  • Medical treatment costs at the government/ university hospital are covered.
  • The students are provided with economy class return air tickets (to and from the country of study).
  • Installation and equipment allowance is given to students selected to study abroad at the partnered universities/ countries.
  • A thesis preparation allowance is provided to Ph.D. students.
  • The candidates get a Scientific research preparation allowance.

ISDB Scholarship Application Process 2023-24

The ISDB scholarship application form is accessed and submitted online. The step-wise application process is given below:

  1. The students should visit the ISDB scholarship portal and register as first-time users.
  2. Then, they should log in to the portal using the credentials and gain access to the application form.
  3. The candidate should fill in the application form with all the required details and click ‘Submit’ to complete the application process.
  4. The applicant should complete the application form after being admitted to the desired college/ university.
  5. To be considered for the ISDB scholarship grant, the students must submit and sign a Surety Bond stating their commitment to their studies, return to their country after completing the course, and service to the community/ country.
  6. The admission requirements for different candidates vary based on the chosen college/ university.
  7. To apply for the ISDB scholarship, the applicant should be an expert in the English language.

The important documents required to apply for the ISDB scholarship India are listed below:

  • Passport size photograph
  • Updated CV
  • Attested copies of academic certificates and marks cards
  • Certificate of good health (if applicable)
  • Research proposal
  • Admission letter to the University/ Institute

ISDB Scholarship Selection Process 2023-24

The candidates are selected based on the eligibility and other requirements of the individual scholarship program. The detailed ISDB scholarship selection process is given below:

  • The selection committee shortlists the candidates. The selection committee comprises academicians from all the development-related fields and is headed by Senior Advisor to the ISDB President for Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI).
  • The selection committee screens all the applications and ranks them based on its personal selection criteria, considering the program's eligibility criteria and selection requirements.
  • The final selection is made by the ISDB President, after which the ISDB scholarship division announces the results to all the selected candidates.
  • The final results are published on the ISDB scholarship site.

ISDB Scholarship Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions to be fulfilled in order to avail of the ISDB scholarship are given below:

ISDB Undergraduate Scholarship Program Terms and Conditions

  • The selected candidates should be admitted to any of the universities listed among the top universities in each country.
  • The applicant should commit to cover the first-year cost of their master’s degree course after completing their study. In such a scenario, the ISDB will cover the cost of their second-year master’s degree course or fund the related cost of the first-year research for a new undergraduate student from the same community.
  • The candidate should not apply/ receive any other scholarship during the study under the ISDB program.
  • The ISDB program does not cover the candidate’s family expenses, extracurricular training expenses, language courses, and any additional travel expenses during the study program.

Terms and Conditions for the ISDB Master’s Scholarship Program and ISDB Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral Research Program

  • The candidate should not apply/ receive any other scholarship during the study under the ISDB program.
  • The final selection recommendation is made by the selection committee and is approved by the ISDB president. The decision made by ISDB management is final.
  • The scholarship recipients must sign the ISDB’s prescribed scholarship agreement that states the candidate’s commitment towards their studies and pledge to serve their community/ country.
  • The scholars must devote themselves to their studies full-time without interruption and should regularly provide progress reports to the ISDB.
