The West Bengal College Service Commission has released the WBSET eligibility criteria for 2023. The candidates are advised to go through the criteria thoroughly before proceeding with the further application processes. 

WBSET Eligibility Criteria 2023: Age Limit

There is no upper age limit mentioned by the conducting authority for the candidates in the WBSET eligibility criteria. The candidates applying must have a Master’s degree from any recognized institution. If the candidates have a Master’s degree they can proceed with the application process.

WBSET Eligibility Criteria 2023: Educational Qualification

The following are a few details regarding the educational qualification for the WBSET eligibility criteria for 2023. 

  • Any candidate who has a Master’s degree with at least 55 percentile from any recognized institution is eligible to apply for the WBSET exam. 
  • Candidates can only apply for their master's degree subject, and they can choose their topic when taking the West Bengal State Eligibility Test.
  • The SC/ST/OBC/Transgender category will be considered eligible if they have a 50% PG score. 
  • Candidates who are awaiting the results of their post-graduation exams are also eligible for the WB SET exam 2023.
  • The score will be valid for the next two years, during which time candidates must submit their post-graduate results.

WBSET Eligibility Criteria 2023: Number of Attempts

According to the WBSET eligibility criteria 2023 released by the conducting authority, the number of attempts is unlimited for the WBSET exam 2023. The candidates can apply several times as long as they fulfill the conditions of the educational qualification. 

WBSET Eligibility Criteria 2023: Exemptions

According to the official WB SET recruitment announcement, some candidates and categories are eligible for the exemption. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for this exam, but some candidates may be exempt if they fall into one of the following categories.

  • 5% relation for the transgender and SC/ST/OBC candidates.
  • Candidates with a Ph.D. who completed their master's degree before September 19, 1991, will be granted a 5% relaxation.
  • Candidates who passed the CISR/JRF/UGC exam prior to 1989 will also be exempt.
  • Candidates who have passed the UGC-accredited SET exam for the post of assistant professor before June 2022 are eligible to apply from any state or city in India.
