The Ph.D. scholarships in India are introduced by the central/state government and are available to students pursuing Ph.D. degrees and other courses. Special preferences will be given to the students with minority certificates. The primary purpose of this scholarship program is to provide scholarship opportunities to deserving students irrespective of their economic background. The maximum scholarship reward of INR 11,50,000 will be presented to the selected students for the scholarship program.

IIT Roorkee Chemistry Department of Post-Doctoral Fellowship 

The IIT Roorkee chemistry department of post-doctoral fellowship is organized by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. This scholarship program is for the students studying in classes 1 to Ph.D. levels. The applicants who qualify for the scholarship scheme will receive a contingency grant of INR 50,000 per month in the first and the second year and INR 60,000 per month from the third year onwards.

National Post Doctoral Fellowship 

The National post-doctoral fellowship is introduced by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB). In this scholarship program, the students from ST/ SC or OBC backgrounds studying for Ph.D. and other courses are eligible to apply. On getting qualified for this Ph.D. scholarship program, deserving candidates will get an opportunity to work under a mentor and become independent researchers. The scholarship scheme aims to provide research opportunities to students of India. The selected students will get rewards of up to INR 2,00,000

MOMA Scholarship 

The Ministry of Minority Affairs issues the MOMA scholarship for the students studying in classes 1 to Ph.D. level. Under this scholarship program, the students who belong to (Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis) community can apply. In addition, the scholarship program aims to provide scholarship opportunities to the impoverished students of India and encourages them to pursue higher education. Under this scholarship scheme, the meritorious candidates can benefit from a scholarship reward of up to INR 20,000

Tata Innovation Fellowship 

The Tata innovation fellowship is introduced by the Department of Biotechnology and the Ministry of Sciences & Technology, government of India, to provide monetary aid to the students studying Ph.D. and other courses. Around 5 awards are given every year to scientists with exceptional work journals. This Ph.D. scholarship program aims to provide research convenience to candidates who belong to scientific and other fields. Here, the deserving students will get rewards of up to INR 6,00,000

Post Matric Scholarship for Scheme for Minorities

The post-matric scholarship for minorities is offered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA) and is available to the students belonging to the minority category. Under this scholarship scheme, 30% of scholarship is reserved for female candidates. Students in class 11 to Ph.D. levels who face financial difficulties can apply for this scholarship program. To be qualified for this Ph.D. scholarship scheme, the candidate's family annual income should not surpass INR 2,00,000. The selected meritorious candidates will be rewarded with INR 10,000 per annum

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship

The Swami Vivekananda scholarship is organized by the Minorities Development and Finance Corporation of West Bengal. This scholarship program is for the students studying in classes 1 to Ph.D. levels. To apply for this scholarship program, the applicant's family income should not be more than INR 2,50,000 per annum from all sources. Here, the qualified meritorious candidates will be rewarded up to INR 8,000.

 Aikyashree Scholarship 

The West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (WBMDFC) puts forth the Aikyashree scholarship for the students studying in class 1 to Ph.D. level. This scholarship scheme for Ph.D. students aims to provide scholarship opportunities to minority students studying in the state. The selected students will receive variable rewards

Maulana Azad Scholarship 

The Ministry of Minority Affairs offers the Maulana Azad scholarship. The meritorious students studying in classes 9 to Ph.D. courses can apply for this scholarship scheme irrespective of their economic background. Under this scholarship scheme, the candidate's family income should not exceed INR 6,00,000 from all sources. The deserving applicants will be rewarded with a scholarship amount of INR 35,000.

The DCE Scholarship

The DCE scholarship is provided by the Department of Collegiate Education (DCE). It is available for the students who are inhabitants of Kerala studying in class X to post-graduation degrees. This scholarship program aims to provide financial aid to deserving candidates belonging to the backward classes of society. The family earnings of the candidates should not exceed INR 8,00,000 per annum. The qualified applicants will get up to INR 20,000 per annum

National Overseas Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe Students

The National overseas scholarship for ST students is an initiative by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, government of India. This scholarship scheme is for students pursuing Ph.D. and other courses. The preferred candidates will get an opportunity to pursue master's, Ph.D., and other professional courses internationally. The main aim is to provide economic aid to meritorious students and provide them with opportunities for Ph.D. scholarships for st students. A scholarship amount of INR 11,50,000 will be given to the deserving candidates.

WBMDFC Scholarship 

The West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (WBMDFC), introduced by the West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation, is a scholarship program that provides financial support to encourage students from the backward classes of society. The primary objective of the scholarship is to facilitate educational opportunities for the students pursuing their studies in classes 1 to Ph.D. levels. The family income of the candidates should not be more than INR 2,50,000. Here, the selected students will be presented with INR 22,000

Application Process for Ph.D. Scholarships

The eligible applicants can apply for the Ph.D. scholarships by following the steps below. The application process is different for various scholarships. The candidates can apply online through the Official Scholarship Portal and the National Scholarship Portal. How to apply on the National Scholarship Portal? 

Eligible applicants for Ph.D. scholarships can apply for particular scholarships through NSP. The candidates can follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: The interested students should visit the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.

Step 2: Here, the new users should first register themselves into the portal.

Step 3: After the successful registration, the candidates must log in with the provided user ID and password.

Step 4: After getting registered successfully, they must click on the apply now button on the scholarship page. 

Step 5: The applicants should fill out the application form by providing the necessary details.

Step 6: All documents must be carefully scanned and cross-verified after uploading.

Step 7: Lastly, click on the submit button on the screen to complete the application for the scholarships.
