JTET exam is part of the recruitment for elementary school teachers in Jharkhand.

About JTET

The Government of Jharkhand has set-up a body called the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) in Ranchi to co-ordinate and conduct the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test. This test is conducted to test the skills and knowledge of the candidates and test their fitness to be a teacher in any government or private school in Jharkhand. This exam is held once in a year and is divided into two papers. Paper-I is for candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 5 and Paper-II is for candidates who want to teach classes 6 to 8. It is a 3 hours long Objective MCQ-based paper.

Certificate Validity: According to the changes made by the council in 2023, the JTET certificate is valid for a lifetime. The candidates who qualify for the exam once, their certificates can be used all through their career. This is applicable to candidates who have qualified for JTET 2013 and 2016 as well.

JTET 2023 Exam Dates

The JTET 2023 exam dates will be declared through a notification that is put up on the official website by the Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi. The exam is conducted once in a year on the dates decided by the Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi.

The date of filing the application form will be announced soon. The candidate must check the official website regularly to start filling the application form on time. If there are any changes to the date of the exam, then it will reflect on the official website. Given below is an outline of the tentative dates for JTET 2023.

JTET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

A candidate is only eligible to write the JTET exam if she/he qualifies the eligibility criteria. It is necessary for an individual to go through the eligibility criteria thoroughly before filling the application form. These criteria are set by the Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi to make sure that the teachers recruited are well educated and have the knowledge and proficiency required to teach Primary and Upper Primary Level students.

The JTET Eligibility criteria is different for both the papers. A candidate must qualify the eligibility criteria pertaining to the paper she/he wants to appear for. If the candidate wishes to appear for both the papers then the criteria must be met for both the papers separately. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

Paper-I Eligibility (Primary Level)

Candidates should have a minimum of 45% in 12th standard or any course equivalent to it along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

OR

Candidates should have a minimum of 50% in 12th standard or any course equivalent to it along with a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

Candidates should have a minimum of 50% in 12th standard or any course equivalent to it along with a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

OR

Candidates with B.A/ B.Sc with at least 50% marks and having a B.Ed degree with from a recognized university.

Paper-II Eligibility (Upper Primary Level)

Applicants who are graduates with 45% marks and passed or appearing in final 2-years D.El.Ed.

OR

Applicants who are graduates with 45% marks and passed or appearing in final 2-years D.El.Ed. The applicant must have passed 50% marks or appearing in the final year of B.Ed must also have 50% marks in Class 12. The applicant must also have a 4-years degree in Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/ 4-years BA/ B.Sc.Ed.

OR

The candidate must have a B.A.Ed/ B.Sc. (Ed.)/ B.Sc. (Special Education) with 50% marks.

Changes in JTET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has made certain changes in the eligibility requirements for JTET 2023.

The candidates who belong to the general category must pass classes 10 and 12 exams from the state of Jharkhand to appear for JTET 2023. This criterion is not subject to the candidates of other categories.

Note: The candidate must have either completed or must be in the final year of Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelors in Education.

JTET 2023 Application Form

The JTET application form will be available on the Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi website. The candidate must create a user name and password on the website to fill the application form. The JTET exam is divided into 2 papers and the candidate must tick while filling the application form which paper would they want to give or if they want to give both the papers.

The application process is the most important process as it is the first step towards writing the exam. if a candidate fails to apply then they shall not get the admit card and will not be able to write the exam. The steps to filling the application form are as below:

  • Step 1: Go to the Jharkhand Academic Council website.
  • Step 2: Click on the Registration link on the homepage and complete the registration using a valid unique email address or phone number.
  • Step 3: Log in to the portal using a valid and unique Email id or Phone number or registration number whichever is set as the user name and password.
  • Step 4: Fill the application form.
  • Step 5: After filling the application form the applicant must pay the registration fee. Payment is done online through Credit or Debit Card or NetBanking methods.
  • Step 6: Submit and print out the receipt for future reference.

Registration Fees

The registration fee for JTET Exam must be paid online while submitting the application form. The JTET 2023 registration fee is as follows:

General: Candidate must pay INR 500/- towards one paper and INR 1000/- towards both the papers

SC/ST: Candidate must pay INR 250/- towards one paper and INR 500/- towards both the papers.

JTET 2023 Admit Card

The JTET admit card will be issued to only those candidates who have filled the application form and paid the registration money and submitted it successfully. If a candidate has produced wrong documents, the admit card shall not be issued to them and they will not be allowed to write the exam. Ensure checking the details on the JTET 2023 Admit Card before downloading it.

An Admit card is the most important document to write the exam. A candidate must download and print the admit card and carry it to the exam hall along with any government id proof like Voters id, Aadhaar card, Passport. The steps to download the JTET admit card are as follows:

  • Step 1: Go to the official website of JTET.
  • Step 2: Search for "Download Admit Card" option and click on it.
  • Step 3: Enter your credentials and login to your account.
  • Step 4: Download your Admit card.

JTET 2023 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is decided by the Jharkhand Academic Council. It is a 3 hours paper with MCQ questions. All questions are compulsory and no choice is given to the candidate. Each question has four answers out of which one is the right answer and the candidate must color the correct circle in the OMR sheet. The candidate will have to answer 150 questions. The candidate must time themselves accordingly.

Each subject has a certain number of questions so it’s easy for candidates to get an idea of how to prepare. Both the papers have different subjects so candidates opting for both must prepare accordingly.

The aspirants for the Urdu Assistant Teacher post must answer 25 questions in Urdu and English.

JTET 2023 Syllabus

The syllabus of the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test is decided by the Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi keeping in mind the syllabus of the students of standard 1 to 8. The teachers too have to study the same syllabus as that of the students but the logical and practical knowledge will be of a higher level. This is done to make sure that the applicants have a good understanding of the concepts. The syllabus of both papers is different.

Changes in JTET 2023 Syllabus

The conducting authority has made some changes in the syllabus for JTET 2023 exam. The council has added new subjects such as Accountancy, Studies of Commerce, Social Studies and Business Study to the JTET syllabus.

JTET 2023 Answer Key

The JTET 2023 answer key will be released on the official website after the exams have been conducted for both the papers. The candidates can check the answer keys and match there answer and get an approximation of the marks they would get in the exam.

JTET 2023 Result

The JTET 2023 results will be declared after a month or two after the exam has been conducted. The exam results will be released on the official website. The candidate must log in with the credentials such as user id and password and download the result. The result must be printed if a candidate is beyond the cut-off limit and carry it along with them for document verification.

JTET 2023 Cut Off

The cut off limit has been set by the Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi. A candidate must get beyond the cut off limit to qualify as a teacher to teach in any government or private schools in Jharkhand. The candidates must secure the cut off marks for the exam compulsorily to be qualified for the exam.

The cut off limit for different categories is as below.

General: The candidate must score 60% and above.

Backward Classes/ OBC/ EWS: The candidates must score 55% and above.

SC/ ST/ Divyang: The candidate must get 50% and above.
