BHU SET 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are advised to go through the eligibility criteria defined by the organizing authorities carefully to avoid unwanted mistakes during the application. Every year the school admits girls and boys into classes VI, IX, and XI, for the next upcoming batch. The eligibility criteria for all of them are as follows.
For Class VI: 10 Years to 12 years age as on September 30, 2023, i.e. date of birth will not be before September 30, 2010, and after September 20, 2012, and passed class V examination from a school.
For Class IX: 13 Years to 15 years age as on September 30, 2023, i.e. date of birth will not be before September 30, 2007, and after September 30, 2009, and passed class VIII examination from a school.
For Class XI: 18 Years maximum age as on September 30, 2023, i.e. date of birth will not be before September 30, 2004, and passed class X examination from a recognized Board/University with the required percentage as stated.
For External candidates (coming through SET):
- 60% marks and above in class X marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for admission in Science Stream. 50% marks and above or equivalent grade is essential in each, Maths and Science as per KVS norms.
- 55% and above in class X marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for commerce.
- Class X passed for Arts stream.
In addition to the above a candidate (excluding SC/ST/OH) shall be eligible for admission to the above classes only if he/she gets a minimum of 33% in the School Entrance Test in which he/she is appearing. These criteria will also apply in case of the sons and daughters of the BHU employees and candidates belonging to SC/ST/Physically Challenged (OH) will be eligible for admission on securing 25% in aggregate as per KVS rules.
BHU SET 2023 Application Form
BHU SET 2023 application window closes on Mar 12, 2023. BHU SET 2023 Application window opened on Feb 9, 2023. To apply for the BHU SET, log on to the portal created by the university. The link is also available on the BHU website. The entire application process for the session is completely online.

The candidate must fill up the SET 2023 Application Form ONLINE as the printed Information Bulletin-cum-Application Form will not be sold by the University. After the candidate has filled up the application form online, he/she will have the following options for payment of the Application Processing/Entrance Test Fee:
- Online payment through credit card/ debit card through the payment gateway available on the Entrance test portal.
- Payment of Entrance Test Fee in Cash through “Challan” in any branch of HDFC Bank: After filling up the application form and its submission and selecting this mode for payment, the candidate can print the Challan from the entrance test portal. The printout of the challan will contain all necessary details of the candidate, bank account details of the Banaras Hindu University in which the entrance test fee will be deposited and the exact amount to be deposited. The candidate will be required to visit any branch of the HDFC Bank of his/her choice, where he/she will be required to deposit the requisite Fee amount to the Bank.
BHU SET 2023 Application Notes
The internal candidates appearing for the SET can avail of the option to appear as external candidates and are eligible for all of the facilities made available to the external candidates. Such candidates must fill in a separate form made available at the school counter.
- The regular students appearing for the Compartmental Examination will not be treated as regular students if they fail to pass the Compartmental Examination within two chances, i.e., July and March next.
- If a candidate wishes to apply for multiple streams in Class XI, the candidate will be required to submit separate application forms for each stream the candidate tends to apply for.
- Candidates possessing an NCC 'A' certificate will be awarded 3 extra marks. At the same time, tabulation of the final result provided they have already secured the minimum qualifying score in the Test.
- Candidates must ensure that they satisfy the eligibility criteria prescribed by the BHU SET 2023 Notification before filling out the application form. The eligibility is subject to verification of all the original documents submitted and the marks sheet during counseling.
BHU SET 2023 Admit Card
BHU SET 2023 Admit Card will be available on the official website. The admit card or the hall ticket is a very important document. The admit card must be carried to the examination hall during or on the examination day. The candidate must also carry other essential documents like their ID cards and other important documents as mentioned on the admit card.
The administration shall e-mail the candidate the admit cards as per the information provided by the applicants in the registration form of the application. An SMS alert regarding the admit card update will also be sent based on the mobile number provided by the applicant. Therefore, all the candidates must provide the correct information (email address and phone number) in the application form.
Alternatively, candidates can download the admit cards from the BHU Entrance Test portal by providing the unique code allotted to them after successfully submitting the application form.
If an applicant cannot download the admit card from the portal, she/he should contact the Helpdesk of Central Hindu Girls' School Office at the earliest.
BHU SET 2023 Exam Pattern
BHU SET examination will be conducted offline using a pen and paper OMR-based format. The Question Booklet will be provided at the beginning of the test. The question paper will consist of 100 questions to be answered on the OMR sheet in the duration of 2 hours of the exam.

BHU SET 2023 Syllabus
For Class VI: The test question paper will be of class V standard comprising 100 MCQ of subjects: English, Hindi, Mathematics, Social Science and General Science.
For Class IX: The test question paper will be of class VIII standard comprising 100 MCQ of subjects: English, Hindi, Mathematics, Social Science and General Science.
For Class XI: The test question paper will be at class X standard comprising 100 MCQ of subjects -

For Class XI Please Note:
- 25% of seats in each stream in class XI in the Central Hindu Boys’ School are reserved for candidates who compete through the School Entrance Test. In addition to the 25% seats in each stream in class XI in CHBS, 50* seats are reserved for Maths group only for external candidates except BHU Employee category through SET.
- In CHBS there is also a provision of 05 seats in each section of class XI only on the basis of merit after the cut off list of merit in the Paid Seat Category as per BHU UET/PET norms. (Maths group- 20 seats, Biology group- 10 seats, Commerce group- 5 seats, Arts group- 5seats)
- However, the possibility of the number of seats for external candidates in both schools and the above may increase depending upon the availability of seats after the admission of internal candidates.
