About Assam TET
Assam TET stands for Assam Teacher Eligibility Test. The Department of Elementary Education conducts Assam TET once in a year. It is mandatory for candidates aspiring to be teachers to appear for the Assam TET exam. Candidates who are willing to pursue their career in teaching jobs in the posts of Lower Primary and Upper Primary can apply for the Assam TET exam. There are two papers by which the eligibility of the candidates is determined for teaching at the corresponding level

Assam TET 2023 Eligibility Criteria
The candidates must go through the eligibility criteria before applying for the Assam TET 2023 exam. If a candidate is found ineligible and they have applied for the exam, then his/her application and candidature shall be cancelled and the registration fee shall not be refunded. The eligibility details for Assam TET 2023 in terms of domicile and educational qualifications are listed below.
Domicile
Candidates must be a permanent resident of the Assam state to be eligible for the Assam TET exam. Candidates from other states are not allowed to appear for this examination.
Educational Qualification
The educational qualification depends on the type of post a candidate is applying for. The qualification criteria for both lower primary teacher and upper primary teacher is given below.
Lower Primary Teacher (Classes I to V)
There are two conditions for a candidate must fulfil to be eligible for Lower Primary Teacher.
Condition 1: The candidate must have passed 12th and have either of the following qualifications.
- 2-year Diploma in elementary education (or)
- 4 year Bachelor of elementary education (or)
- 2-year Diploma in education (or)
- Graduated and a 2-year diploma in elementary education (or)
- Graduated with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education
Condition 2: The candidate must have pursued any teacher education courses which have been recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, and specified in the NCTE guidelines.
Upper Primary Teacher (Classes VI to VIII)
The candidate is expected to fulfil both the given conditions to be eligible for the position of an Upper Primary Teacher.
Condition 1- The candidate is required to fulfil at least one of the following educational qualifications:
- Graduated and 2-year diploma in Elementary Education (or)
- Graduated with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelors in Education (or)
- Senior Secondary Education with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary (or)
- Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./B.Sc. Ed. or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed. (or)
- Graduated with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelors in Educations
Condition 2- The candidate must have pursued any teacher education courses which have been recognized by the NCTE or the RCI and specified in the NCTE guidelines.
Marks Relaxation
The candidates must have 50% marks as their minimum qualification. A few exceptions that have been cited in the qualification include:
- Candidates of SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD categories.
- Paper 1 candidates who were admitted in 2nd year D.EI.E.d. Before August 31, 2009, and qualified.
- Paper 2 candidates who were admitted in 1st year B.Ed before August 31, 2009, and qualified.

How to apply for the Assam TET 2023 exam?
Candidates can follow the given below step by step process on how to apply for the Assam TET 2023 exam. Applicants must fill the application form before last date and successfully make the payment.
Registration
- Step 1: Candidates need to first visit the official website of Elementary Education, Government of Assam - ssa.assam.gov.in
- Step 2: On the homepage of the website, check for the Teachers Eligiblity Test 2023 link and click on it.
- Step 3: Applicants will be redirected to a new registration page, where candidates need to read all the instructions and guidelines to fill the application form. Once the candidate has finished reading all the instructions for filling the Assam TET application form, proceed with "Next".
- Step 4: A application page will be opened where candidates need to first select the post they are applying for - Lower Primary(LP), Upper primary (UP) or Both(LP and UP). Once selected proceed to complete filling the basic personal details.
Enter Personal and Education Details
- Step 1: Provide personal details such as Candidate's full name, Parent's name, date of birth, gender, Address for correspondence, mobile number, email ID, Aadhar card number.
- Step 2: In the next section, candidates must choose the exam city, zone and also specify the subject for paper II. They can even select the medium of paper. In case of reserved category candidates, they need to select their category in the next step.
- Step 3: Enter the education details such as 10+2 marks, stream, graduation marks, year of passing, Board/University name etc.
Upload Documents
- Step 1: Upload the latest passport size photograph and scanned copy of signature as per the prescribed format.
- Step 2: After uploading the photograph and signature, candidates are required to create a password. Once done, verify the entire details and click on the declaration check box.
Fee Payment
- Step 1: The last and final step is the payment of Assam TET application fees. Candidates can make the payment through Debit card/ Credit Card/ Netbanking/ Wallet/ Cash cards or UPI.
- Step 2: Once the payment is done, download and take a prinotut of the completed application form for future reference.

Assam TET 2023 Exam Pattern
Candidates aspiring to write the Assam TET 2023 exam must have a clear idea about the exam pattern and the syllabus. The Assam TET 2023 paper comprises two parts: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for the candidates who have opted for Lower Primary Teaching (classes I to V) posts and Paper 2 is for the candidates who are applying for the Upper Primary posts (classes VI to VIII).
- Duration of exam: The exam will be conducted for 150 minutes (both paper 1 and 2). Additionally, 20 minutes (per hour) will be given for visually impaired candidates.
- Medium of question paper: The question paper will be available in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi and English language.
- Marking Scheme: All 150 Multiple Choice Questions will carry +1 mark for each correct response. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
