Siddaganga Institute of Technology, [SIT] Tumkur is an autonomous college established in the year 1963. It was established by the Shree Siddaganga Education Society. It is affiliated VISVESVARAYA Technological University [VTU] and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE] & University Grant Commission [UGC]. The college is accredited by National Institutional Research [NIRF]. It offers quality education in undergraduate, postgraduate, doctorate, and PG-Diploma programs in the field of Engineering, Science, and Management. The Siddaganga Institute of Technology infrastructure has a vast 50 acres of area with facilities like central library, laboratories, auditorium, hostel facility, canteen, health center, sports facility, guest house, post office, stationery shop, and more.

The SIT has a Training and Development Department which provides training and placement for the students in some of the reputed companies with a good salary package. Some of the top recruiters are Microsoft, IBM, Mercedes-Benz R&D, INDIAN NAVY, TCS, Continental, Societe Generale, SAP Labs, BEL, Infosys, Wipro, Allstate, Quest Global, Siemens, Capgemini, Bosch, and more. The Institute apart from providing quality education also supports and encourages students in social, cultural, extracurricular, and sports activities and events. The SIT has set up Center of Excellence with IBM and Incubation Center to impart skill, knowledge, research & development for the students. SIT, Tumkur is one of 125 institutions run by Sree Siddaganga Education society. SIT campus is spread over 50 acres and the whole area is landscaped and is lush green. The institute has over 2470 computers and is located in 42 computer centers which are all networked with fiber optic backbone. The total number of students on the campus is over 4500 and more than 50% of students stay in college hostels. More highlights about this college are mentioned below.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology Ranking:

• The Siddaganga Institute of Technology ranking is 100th by National Institutional Ranking Framework [NIRF] under the Engineering category for the year 2024.
• The SIT-MBA has been ranked as the 132nd Best Institute in All-India Non-Government B-Schools Category by Week Survey, 2017.
• The AICTE-CII Survey of Industry Linked Institutes has placed SIT-MBA in GOLD CATEGORY in the year 2017.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology Infrastructure Facilities:

Central Library:

• The library is centrally located on the campus and is housed in two independent 3-floor buildings.
• The library is having a collection of 1,10,586 volumes that includes 34,495 volumes under the Book Bank and about 14,683 volumes under SC/ST Book Bank.
• The collection includes reference works such as Dictionaries, Hand Books, Encyclopedias, and Standards.
• The library subscribes 212 Technical Periodicals of which about 42 are International, it has also a collection of nearly 3993 Back Volumes of Periodicals.
• The library has a digital library facility where one can access information from e-resources.
• The reading section for students is provided in the 1st and 2nd floor of the library with a seating capacity of 450 students, which also includes two separate AC reading halls of a capacity of 150 users. 
• The library is opened for 24/ 7 during exams.

Laboratories:

• The SIT has state of art laboratories with modern systems and high-tech instruments which provide quality education in practicals for the students.

 Computer Center:

• The SIT has 42 computer centers which house 2470 systems overall in all the departments, in addition to it, also has 250 computers for the faculty.
• All the computer centers and other computer facilities like Library & Information Center and the Industrial Competency Laboratory [ICL] and the hostels are connected through a campus-wide network with Fibre Optic backbone, it also has Wireless Access Network [WAN] connecting to all Hostels.
• The Institute has a 250 Mbps INTERNET leased line connecting all the computer centers and the individual computers in the Departments and the Hostels.

Hostel Facility:

• The SIT provides a Hostel facility with 5 Boys Hostels [4 inside the campus and 1 outside the campus] and 2 Girls Hostels [Located outside the campus].
• The Institute is building one more  Girl's Hostel with a capacity of 290 students which is nearing completion.
• The Institute hostels can together accommodate 1950 students 
• Each room in all the hostels has been furnished with cots, tables, chairs, book racks, and fans.

Health Center:

• The SIT has established Health Centre inside the campus in the year 1992.
• The Health Center has two doctors, nurses, and hospital staff who provide treatment for students.
• The Center also has OPD, daycare, clinical laboratory, and more.
• The center organizes camps like blood donation camps, health awareness camps, etc.
• It has an ambulance facility in case of emergency or medical attention for the students.

Incubation Center:

• The SIT has setup the Incubation Center to facilitate Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Development.
• The Incubation Center will incubate 10 projects each year.
• The center provides funding for each project up to Rs.3 lakhs.
• The projects are carried out in the view of solving local needs.

 Guest House:

• The Siddaganga Institute of Technology has two guest houses:

• The Alumni Guesthouse has fully furnished 55 single rooms with all the facilities.

Auditorium:

• The Institute has state of art auditorium with modern architecture and facilities.
• The auditorium can accommodate 1000 members for social, academic, and cultural events.

• The Siddaganga Institute of Technology Placement for all the courses is provided by the Training and Placement Department.
• The Placement Department starts training the students from 1st year of engineering with basic communicative skills, orientation, and workshops.

• The Siddaganga Institute of Technology offers various scholarships for the students under the State Government Of Karnataka and the Government of India.
