INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION
  • There are 6 hotels in the college out of which 4 if they are boys and rest are for girls. The hostel is nice, spacious and inside the campus. Hostel fees are Rs.60000 per annum. Since Tumkur is small town so a lot of P.G are not available, but few if they are there which cost around Rs.6500 per month.
  • Food is typically south Indian with a lot of local dishes. Canteen provides food for approximately Rs.30 per meal.
  • The lab is well equipped and provided by Technip. College is provided with fast ethernet as well as wi-fi. The classroom is provided with Internet facility and with a projector and other modern equipment. The college has a single centralized library as well as individual libraries of each department.

SIT campus is spread over 50 acres and the whole area is landscaped and is lush green. Tumkur enjoys the same salubrious climate as that of Bangalore.
At the time of inception, the institute was offering only 3 branches namely Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering with a total annual intake of 120.
The institute is now offering 12 UG programmes with a total annual intake of 930 and 16 PG Programmes with a total annual intake of 432.
16 departments of the institute are recognised as research centres by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, where students can register for Ph.D programme and M.Sc. by Research. 152 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D degree in our research centres and so far 31 research scholars have obtained Ph.D degree from our research centres.
All the departments in the institute have well equipped laboratories. The institute has over 2200 computers and are located in 29 Computer Centres which are all networked with fibre optic backbone. Round the clock internet facility is provided to all the Computer Laboratories, Faculty Chambers, Hostels, Class Rooms, through 100 Mbps leased line.
The total number of students in the campus is over 5000 and more than 50% of the students stay in seven of our hostels.
The institute has 330 well qualified and experienced faculty members out of which 90 are Ph.D holders and others Masters Degree holders. 70 more faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D programme in IISc, IITs and other reputed universities.

Infrastructure Facility at Siddaganga Institute of Technology, [SIT] Tumkur:

Hostel:

  • S.I.T. Group of Hostels runs 5 Boys Hostels where 4 is inside the campus and 1 in town and 2 Girls Hostels located in the town.
  • Together can accommodate 1950 students in the area of 22700 Sq.m.
  • Each hostel block is managed under the supervision of a Deputy Warden who is also a faculty member of S.I.T.
  • Each room in all the hostels has been furnished with tables, chairs, cots, book racks and a ceiling fan.
  • Parents and guardians of the students are being provided accommodation in a guest house on nominal rent whenever they visit the college and wish to stay during their visits.

Library:

  • The library at SIT Tumkur is centrally located in the campus,  has an area of 1533 Sq Mts.
  • The library has a collection of 1,01,554 volumes that includes 30,829 volumes under the Book Bank and about 11,574 volumes under SC/ST Book Bank. The collection includes reference works such as Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Hand Books and Standards.
  • The library has 152 Technical Periodicals of which about 42 are International, it has also a collection of nearly 3267 Back Volumes of Periodicals
  • The library has subscribed the e-resources mandated by AICTE, that is IEEE(ASPP), EBSCO (Architecture), ELSEVIER (Engineering, Chemical and Computer Science), J-Gate Engineering & Technology (JET), ASCE, ASTM Digital Library Online, McGraw- Hill's Access Engineering and Springer (EE, EC, Computer Science & Mechanical Engineering).
  • The library has a membership with reputed libraries in Bangalore, like British Library, IIMB Library, NAL Library and CMTI LIbrary by which our students and faculty can avail the reference services offered by the above Libraries.
  • The seating capacity of the Library is 450 users, which also includes two separate AC Reading Halls of a capacity of 150 users. The library has computer with WEB - enabled open source software NewGenLib. The online public access catalog can be accessed across the campus through OPAC which facilitates to search the books by author and title.

Health Center:

  • Health Centre is situated inside SIT Campus. The health center has two doctors and one staff nurse, a male health worker and two supporting staff.
  • Health centre has computerized and stored patient data and drug store details.
  • Dr. Sateesh Patil is working as Resident Medical officer since Sept 1992 in SIT.
  •  Neuropsychiatrist is also available for consultation on every Wednesday in the evening hours (5.00PM to 6.00PM) .

Incubation Center:

  • It is one among the Nine Engineering college identified to set up incubation center to promote Entrepreneurship and innovation.
  • The center would like to incubate up to 10 projects each year.
  • Each project would be executed by a team of entrepreneurs who are students or alumni.
  • Each project will get funding of up to INR 3 lacs.

IBM Incubation Center of Excellence:

  • It helps to increase the skill sets for faculty and students.
  • It helps to improve the quality of technical students.
  • It provides access to IBM softwares for training.
  • Free certifications are provided for IBM products to faculty and students.
