Eligibility Criteria for NAAC Accreditation Application
NAAC accreditation is a four-step process.
- Letter of Intent (LOI)
- Self-study report (SSR)
- Institutional Eligibility for Quality Assessment (IEQA)
- Direct visit.
For a college to get NAAC accreditation, it should satisfy the eligibility criteria set by NAAC. UGC and NAAC decide NAAC criteria. Following are the criteria for the NAAC Accreditation.
- Colleges should be under the affiliation of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
- The constituent colleges that are private and deemed university are considered the constituent units and are not considered for Assessment and Accreditation independently.
- Th institution must have continuously students applying for full time courses for a valid accreditation.
- The subsidiary colleges under deemed-to-be universities and private universities will not be considered for accreditation.
- If the institution wants to increase their grade from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2, 3, and 4, it will have to apply for re-assessment from one year to three years after the Cycle 1 results.

NAAC Accreditation Application Procedure
The NAAC Assessment and Accreditation process is usually structured formally by the authorities. Following are the steps to apply for NAAC accreditation.
Step 1: The Higher Education Colleges, Institutions, or Universities should submit their Letter of Intent (LOI) online after uploading the Self-study Report (SSR) on the institution’s website.
Step 2: It takes nearly 15 days for LOI to get processed. The institution should pay the registration fee only for the on-demand draft to reach NAAC within ten days after submission of LOI.
Step 3: After accepting the LOI, the college should submit its Institutional Eligibility for Quality Assessment (IEQA) report online within one week.
Step 4: After accepting LOI and IEQA, the college can submit the Self-Study Report (SSR) within two weeks.
Step 5: The NAAC will decide the date of visit for the college, and the NAAC team will visit the college within three weeks after the submission of the SSR report.
Step 6: The visit is ordinarily completed within one month.

NAAC Re-Accreditation
Colleges who are not satisfied with their accredited status may apply for re-assessment after a year, but they cannot apply after completing a three-year status period. The process to apply for re-assessment is the same as assessment and accreditation. The process of accreditation and assessment is called a cycle. For example, if the college undergoes the first-time evaluation, it is the first cycle, and the consecutive five-year cycle is Cycle 2, 3, 4, 5.
