St Josephs College of Commerce Autonomous, Bangalore, formerly was a part of St Joseph’s College established in 1882 as an initiative by the French Foreign Mission Fathers to impart higher education. St. Joseph’s College of Commerce was recognized as “College with Potential for Excellence” in February 2010 by UGC.

The college strives for excellence in learning, through creative, practical, and co-operative leadership, inspired by genuine religious and moral values. The ratio of boys to girls in the college is seven is to three since there are several Catholic/Christian colleges exclusively for girls in Bangalore.

SJCC Infrastructure

St Josephs College of Commerce Autonomous campus facilities are available for the students and faculty members. SJCC Facilities provides Students with a lot of exposure to new things.

  1. There is a library which has a collection of printed materials like books, periodicals, journals, newspapers, maps, manuscripts, and microforms, et,c and E-resources like E-books, E-journals, E-databases, and other formats. 
  2. The College has two well-equipped computer labs located on the first floor of the college building. The Lab is fully air-conditioned with an infrastructure facility to lodge 160 computer systems
  3. The institution has five large Audio-Visual (AV) rooms equipped with the latest audio-visual aids
  4. This institution has 2 auditoriums for various events
  5. The college has an integrated WiFi facility and a canteen.

SJCC Placements

The college has a separate placement cell that trains students for the placements. SJCC placements provide students with a lot of opportunities for students of finishing their courses.

  • Dedicated placement cell was formed in 1999
  • 190 Undergraduate and Postgraduate students registered for campus placements this academic year of which 166(87%) students have been offered jobs by various companies and many more are in the pipeline for recruitment and selection.
  • The average CTC offered by the recruiters was between INR 2, 75,000 to 3,45,000 per annum and the highest package offered was INR 13, 90, 000 approximately.

SJCC Scholarships

The Central and State Governments offer scholarships, fee concessions, and scholarships to deserving students. All scholarships, fee concessions, and scholarships are subject to regular attendance, good conduct, and satisfactory progress. 

  1. Group A - Scholarships For the Economically Backward: A student of Degree or PG who is economically weak, especially from the rural areas is eligible to apply provided he/she furnishes enough evidence for his/her eligibility, enclosing a community/income certificate. A good academic record (passed in all subjects with 70% and above) is also required. 
  2. Group B - Scholarships For Co-Curricular And Extra-Curricular Activities: Any student from Degree or PG who is actively associated with the literary/cultural or sports activities of the college and has sufficient proof to support his/her application can apply. The application should have a reference to the least 2-3 staff members.

  2. Click on the online application form link.
  3. Choose the program or course you want to apply for, fill in all the details, and click on “submit”.
  4. Select the mode of application and make the payment.
  5. The server will generate a 6-digit unique application number.
  6. This number has to be used by the candidate for future correspondence.

The college does not accept capitation/donations for admissions. In case such a demand is made by anyone you are requested to bring it to the notice, in writing, to the Principal of the College or the Vice President, Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society, Jesuit Nivas, 35, Museum Road, Bengaluru– 560 025.

  • There are 2 batch- the morning batch and the evening batch. Classes for the morning batch starts from 6 a.m and ends by 11.00 a.m. Classes for evening batch starts at 11.00 a.m and ends by 4.00 p.m. Assignments and works are given through out the academic year. There are 2 exams in a year namely the mid-semester exam and the end semester exam.
  • Most of the teachers have a doctorate and teaches very well. The teachers use powerpoint presentations and other interactive methods of teaching.
  • The overall experience of studying in St. Josephs College of Commerce excellent.

 


CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS
  • The different student associations are E- Cell, harmony club, eco club, alma, WDA, Indian dance association.
  • The main fest conducted is DHWANI, which is the inter-college cultural fest. There is SPIEL, the inter-college sports fest and CHANAKYA, the inter-college business fest. There is inter class cultural fest ie, KALOTSAV and inter-class business fest called CIPHER and inter-class sports competitions.
  • Life in college is very good. Academics and extracurricular activities are well balanced.
