College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

As being a part of the university and observing each and every small detail present in the campus that comes under the tagging of infrastructure,  I would like to share and entertain the most common queries regarding the university infrastructure.

1. As you all know that Chandigarh University is NAAC Grade A+ accredited by the UGC, symbolises and represents everything itself only. Though getting such a higher accreditation is not just a regular piece of cake. For that, the university should be top-notch in each and every field including academics, infrastructure, co-curricular activities, placements, hostel facilities and other things.

2. The university consists of a huge, green and beautiful campus comprising of a main central library along with other libraries in each block, various green parks and grounds, gymming facility, sports campus, auditoriums, faculty, staff and student parkings, various food courts/outlets and most importantly the OAT's or the Open Air Theatres for the students to play, hangout with friends and spend their leisure time. Moreover the university is segregated into different academic blocks catering to various disciplines.

3. Talking about the academic infrastructures, the university provides various academic blocks each specified for a bunch of different courses. Each academic block is consisting of the moderate number of classrooms, experimental and practical labs, research labs, MOOT Courts for the law student, media and designing labs, and above all this the workshops that plays crucial role in gaining the practical hand knowledge of other fields too.

4. As being from the Biotechnology Engineering Department I woud like to share more about my experiences regarding the biotechnology engineering course.

5. We are though facilitated with quality classrooms and the practical labs, as provided by the university. The classrooms are spacious and fully compriesed of new-day technology learning modes such as the projectors and audio facilities.

6. The practical and experimental labs also up to date as according to the needs of the students and the curriculum. It is always under the supervision of the appointed lab instructor who is anytime present in the lab for any kind of help to any student. Also the labs are fully equipped with all kinds of machinary and the apparatus which a student might need for performance of his/her practical work or research oriented work.

7. Further it is anyway necessary for every student to follow the specific protocols before entering into any lab. Such protocols include wearing of all the safety measures consisting lab coats, glasses and the outfit that is apt for the research lab.

8. In order to this, I'm also providing various photographs which are taken in the lab during the performance of the practical by the students.

9. Further in order to lower the loss of studies faced by the students during this global pendamic of the Coronavirus, the university has proposed and implemented the new-age mode of interactive classes in the form of online video classes where the faculty is teaching the whole class through online medium withut facing much difficulty, although being miles far away from each other. Moreover the curriculum is designed on the basis of the feedback given by the alumni working in various companies, national and international professors of respective departments. In addition to this there exists MOOC's courses that are made necesary by the UGC, and also consisting of 2 credits.

10. Talking about the hostel facility provided by the university, I would like to ensure the parents as well as their wards that they won't be facing any kind of difficulty in their hostel life as well. This is just because the security guards, the wardens and the hostel staff are anytime ready to serve any hostelite as according to the need of the situation.

11. At last, I would like to conclude this all by saying that the university is transitioning itself day by day for the betterment of the students in every aspect and for themselves to do better and provide the top-notch and quality education and facilities to their students.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

Entrance here is basically done on the basis of marks that a student had obtained in the higher secondary school or the 12th class.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : This is true that anyone can get into CU. Getting into CU is not a tough job but to remain in CU is tough. CU is really strong in its disciplinary grounds and manages a very strong student care forum. Examinations are conducted very seriously and only eligibles are promoted. Any student having a 60% or above in their 10+2 can get into CU and for reserved categories, it is 5% less. CU does not have any entrance examination. It conducts an examination known as CUCET prior to admission for scholarship purposes. the admission procedure is very simple and online. Online and offline admission forms are available which needs to be filled and after the first-semester payment is done, admission is completed. No cutoff as such. For Btech courses the student must have PCMB in their 10+2.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The elebility criteria for getting into CU is not that hard to meet. It only needs the student to acquire a 65% or above in their 10+2 for general students and for reseerved catagories the criteria gets redeemed by 5%. 1) Btech in CSE/ECE/Civil/Mechanical/mechatronis require PCB in 10+2 whereas BE in biotech or foodtech doesn't have any such criteria as it can be PCB or PCM or PCMB. From this year chandigarh universiy has arranged for a common entrace test which is applicable for scholarship purposes.(CUCET) To avail merit based scholarships student must attempt CUCET prior to admission. 2) There is no entrance examination. CUCET( chandigarh university common entrance test) is conducted by the university only for students willing to take up scholarships. 3) Typical cutoff for any course is 65% or above in 10+2 for general category and 55% for reserved catagories.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : For admission we need to clear either cucet or jee mains for engineering. One should be qualified in 12th boards with atleast 50% . I had given jee mains as an entrance test. It depends on the number of students appearing in the exam.
