Placements and Internships

5

Internships are available through reputed companies. Initially, these are not stipended but with time the intern is paid. CU has collaborations with many global companies as well.

Some companies providing internships through CU in the biotechnology department are Biocon, Serum Institute of India, Bharat serums and vaccines limited, Verka, etc.

The average salary figure for the biotech department is around 3LPA. Highest being 4LPA and lowest 2LPA. Placement totally depends upon the student. If the student is capable then 100% placement is guaranteed. Special classes are arranged by the university itself to prepare them for job interviews and internships.

The Alumni network is really strong having large MNC's and international companies.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

  • Many hostels are there inside and outside the campus but within a range of 500m from the main campus. Girls hostels are situated inside the campus only for better security. There are around 4 girls Hostel which is fully furnished and very spacious. There are 2 boys hostel inside the main campus and the rest are outside the campus but within the perimeter of the college only. Boys hostels are also fully furnished and spacious. THere's 24h free wifi in all the hostels. Few hostels also have playgrounds, Swimming pools, Canteens, and stationery shops. Hostels charge 80,000-1,00,000 per year including food and lodging.
  • There are many rented accommodations available within a perimeter of 1km-10km of the university. These are PG's, Flats, rented houses, etc. Typically they charge about 3000-10000 per month excluding food.
  • Quality of food on campus can never be questioned and the university serves the best of delicacies at a very pocket-friendly range. Every hostel has its own mess which provide food 4 times a day. Apart from that university campus has many small food outlets like juice bars, Pizza hubs, Normal canteens serving junk foods, Canteen serving normal Thaali meals, and so on. The campus also has Domino's, Subway, Burger King, Nescafe, and other well-known food destinations.
  • Infrastructure is top class waving well-maintained classrooms, labs, food courts, playgrounds, gyms, libraries, cycle tracks, gardens, parks, and whatnot.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

This is true that anyone can get into CU. Getting into CU is not a tough job but to remain in CU is tough. CU is really strong in its disciplinary grounds and manages a very strong student care forum. Examinations are conducted very seriously and only eligibles are promoted.

Any student having a 60% or above in their 10+2 can get into CU and for reserved categories, it is 5% less.

  • CU does not have any entrance examination. It conducts an examination known as CUCET prior to admission for scholarship purposes.
  • the admission procedure is very simple and online. Online and offline admission forms are available which needs to be filled and after the first-semester payment is done, admission is completed.
  • No cutoff as such. For Btech courses the student must have PCMB in their 10+2.

Academics and Faculty

5

Classes start from 9:30 in the morning and run till 4:30 PM. A 1-hour break is provided in between. Two semesters are held per year-1semester every 6 months. Each semester consists of 2 unitary tests and one final examination. Each unitary test consists of one assignment and one project for each subject.

Quality of teaching is amazing and very High tech as the professors are really knowledgable with proper experience. Method of teaching is through Lectures, Webinars, Seminars, Expert talks, labs, and field trips. Classrooms are modernized with smart boards and projectors.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The elebility criteria for getting into CU is not that hard to meet. It only needs the student to acquire a 65% or above in their 10+2 for general students and for reseerved catagories the criteria gets redeemed by 5%. 1) Btech in CSE/ECE/Civil/Mechanical/mechatronis require PCB in 10+2 whereas BE in biotech or foodtech doesn't have any such criteria as it can be PCB or PCM or PCMB. From this year chandigarh universiy has arranged for a common entrace test which is applicable for scholarship purposes.(CUCET) To avail merit based scholarships student must attempt CUCET prior to admission. 2) There is no entrance examination. CUCET( chandigarh university common entrance test) is conducted by the university only for students willing to take up scholarships. 3) Typical cutoff for any course is 65% or above in 10+2 for general category and 55% for reserved catagories.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : For admission we need to clear either cucet or jee mains for engineering. One should be qualified in 12th boards with atleast 50% . I had given jee mains as an entrance test. It depends on the number of students appearing in the exam.
