The key companies that hire from BIT Mesra are Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Tata, Goldman Sachs etc. The average salary per year is INR 7 to 8 lakhs per annum. For 2016, the highest salary offered was INR 26 lakhs to 55 lakhs. The college has a very strong alumni network.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
There are 13 hostels and they are quite good. The hostel fee is INR 3000 per month. The college is located on the outskirts of Ranchi, so living in Ranchi and coming to college every day is very inconvenient. The hostel food is not. The mess fee is INR 3000 per month. All the classrooms are good with each being fully air-conditioned and equipped with projectors. All type of equipment is present in the labs, there are about 50,000 books in the library. The whole campus is wifi enabled.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
The candidate must clear the JEE MAIN exam and must have passed the 12th from a recognized institute. No entrance exam is conducted. Minimum 75% cutoff mark is required. The typical cutoff rank is nearly 24,000.
Academics and Faculty
The classes start at 8:00 am and end at 5:10 pm. In each semester, there are two types of exams, mid-sem (25 marks) and end-sem (60 marks). Apart from that, two quizzes/projects are held with each being 15 marks and the best of two being considered in the final mark sheet. The quality of teaching is very good with a focus on life-related problems. The college's experience is very good.
Fees and Scholarships
The course fee for 2017-18 is INR 2,20,000. There are many scholarships especially for merit students and also for SC/ST students. Loans are easily available and it can be availed by SBI.
Clubs and Associations
There are many clubs present in college related to IT, Formula Racing, All-weather cars, Entrepreneurship, Dance, Drama, Literature, Music etc. The main events on campus are BITOTSAV (cultural fest), PANTHEON (technical fest), Vajra (sports meet), Diwali etc. The college life is very good.

The typical cut off for Mechanical engineering at BIT Mesra is AIR 24,000 for other states and AIR 27,000 for home state Jharkhand.

ATTENDANCE: students of BIT mesra should contain atleast 75% of attendance or else they would fall in F* region which leads to suspension of END sem exams in specific subject. these students should clear the subject at summer time called short term course.
