Placements and Internships

2.5

  • Since I am right now in second year (about to complete 2nd year), so I didn't had the chance to go on any internship.
  • The companys coming for placements are: TCS, WIPRO, IBM, Maruti, TATA Automotives, LnT Infotec, LnT Hydrocarbon, Infosys, Mahindra and Mahindra, KPIT,..and about 100 more.
  • Salary is always INR 300,000 per year (average which is very less), highest is in the petroleum branches and may go up to INR 2.4 million, but since the recession so all petroleum students end up in IT al INR 300,000. Percentage placeme tis around 90%. All over the salary is not at all satisfactory, they must have average package at INR around 600,000 ie, twice that which is currently there.
  • Not very good atleast in my Electronics department. Here CS has a very good alumini network.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

1.5

  • Two hostels, one for girls and the other for boys. I don't stay in the Campus hostel so I don't have any idea, and hostel fee is INR 110,000/- per year.
  • Well private hostels are INR 20,000/- to 30,000/- per year more expensive than the campus hostel (yearly). While PGs are the economical heaven for students. PGs cost at around INR 3000/- per month only. In fact I found this out just 6 months ago and I got mine booked this week itself. From my next semester onwards I will be staying in this PG.
  • Food is good in college. It costs minimum INR 30/- for a stomach full meal (the most basic one).
  • Quality of everything listed above is good except the wifi. The wifi is very very poor. They keep making things complicated. I don't understand why they have to struggle so much to give high speed wifi to everyone which they have the capability to give but they don't. I am frustated with the wifi facilities of this University, and that is the case with even the faculty.

Academics and Faculty

3.5

  • Classes start from morning from 9 am or 10 am and go upto 4 or 5 pm.Each class is of one hour duration and we have a break of one hour and on some week days 2 hours, usually at noon (between 12pm and 3pm).We have labs, of 2 hours duration. We don't have lab exams instead there is a concept of regular evaluation based on our lab performance and there are marks awarded by even the lab assistant for good performance. Saturdays and sundays are holidays. Different kinds of projects keep coming, depends whether you want to take part or not. In third year we have two minor projects and in fourth year we have 2 major projects. We have two exams for each subject one mid semester and the other one is end semester. The former one has 20% weightage and the other one has 50% weightage. Rest 30% are the internal assesment marks lying in the hands of the teacher. We get 2-3 assignments in each subjects for each semester.
  • Teaching method is rather simple. We have classes having projectors. Depends on the teacher whether he/she is going to teach using a presentation or on the white board. Faculty is nice, but one may have bad experience with some teachers. Therefore qualityis okay. And method of teaching is understandable.
  • Satisfactory experience but the college can maintain better faculty and pay less attension to classes and more to project work. Also the college is kind of small so it must increase its area to reduce the feeling of suffocation. And also the library's got to have thrice as many books as it has of nice foreign authors (it has such books but needs to have more of them cause we are paying them so much).

Fees and Scholarships

1

  • Per year its around INR 2,50,000/-.
  • If a student scores 3.7 pointer out of 4, then he/she is given tution fee waiver, but that's kind of hard to score. For freshers they give scolarship based on board percentages.
  • Maybe 5 or 6 int the whole college who score 3.7 or above and about 50 freshers who get scolarship based on board percentages.
  • Yes you can take loans very easily if you are running out of money , since I didn't took one so I don't have any idea about which banks are supposed to give these education loans.
