Placement at IBS Hyderabad is pretty great if you lie in the top half in your batch. The average package is offered INR 7 LPA (approx), and in the highest international placement is 60 LPA offered by Tolaram Group. Besides the highest national placement is 20 LPA (approx) offered by companies like Arcesium and DE Shaw. Majority of hiring is across Analyst and Sales profiles across companies.
The alumni network is pretty strong and spread across the world. The club culture helps a lot in networking across multiple batches.
There are 12 hostel blocks (7 for boys & 5 for girls) with 10 of them with common washrooms and one each with attached washrooms for boys and girls respectively. (The rooms with attached washroom cost an additional INR 10,000 per semester. There are two messes each managed by a different service company, and unlike most college mess food, the food here is pretty good. There are several canteens within the campus which are open throughout the day.
The academics block is beautiful, with around 20 LTs (Lecture theatres) and further many more CRs (Classrooms). It is accompanied by a large Auditorium and a Seminar hall. The campus has an indoor sports auditorium for squash, badminton, table tennis, etc. along with an outdoor sports field for cricket and football and courts for lawn tennis and basketball. The college campus is really beautiful, and considering it is a residential college for MBA spread across 100acres; most students are seen taking long walks post class hours.
IBS Hyderabad is a pretty good college to do an MBA. It accepts scores from CAT and also organizes its entrance exam, i.e., IBSAT. The qualifying cutoff, which was cumulative of test scores along with GD and PI is 87 percentile (for the year 2015).
Classes start from 9:00 AM onwards and go on till 4:30 PM depending on your lecture timings based on your assigned faculty. Each class goes on for 1 hour and 15 minutes followed by a 15-minute break. IBS follows relative marking where students are given grades based on their performance within the classroom across three different aspects: CP (Classroom Participation), NCP (Non-Classroom Participation) tests, assignments, and projects & semester examinations. This builds a healthy competition among peers to excel as everything is relative.
Also, IBS follows the case study methodology in the footsteps of Harvard Business school. 1st-year students get to deal with real-world cases carefully designed by the IBSCDC, which is Asia Pacific's largest repository of business management case studies. 2nd-year students get to study the cases straight from Harvard Business school itself. This allows students to get accustomed to the real-world implication of the subjects that are taught in the course curriculum.
29 Student Activity Clubs are specializing in different verticals which keep the students engaged outside the academics with a plethora of activities throughout the course period and give a chance to each student to identify and polish their skills outside academics. Some of the major clubs include Maçon - The Entrepreneurship Cell, Speak Up - The Public Speaking and Soft Skills, Maverick - Marketing, AdMire- Advertising, Finstreet - Finance, VAPS -Sports, Samavesh - Cultural among others.
The annual college fest is called TRISHNA. All clubs organize several events throughout the year starting with the IBS Dialogue by Speak Up to introduce the club culture in IBS, followed by several standalone events by each club and then ending the year by a flagship event by each club. The competition between the clubs is exhilarating for winning the title of BMC (Best Managed Club) in Trishna.
