Master of Business Administration [MBA], batch of 2017
Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

IBS Hyderabad is a good college for MBA. IBS Hyderabad accepts scores from CAT and IBSAT, followed by a group discussion and PI. The cut-off is 87 percentile.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS
10/10

29 Student Activity Clubs are specializing in different verticals which keep the students engaged outside the academics with a plethora of activities throughout the course period and give a chance to each student to identify and polish their skills outside academics. Some of the major Clubs include Maçon - The Entrepreneurship Cell, Speak Up - The Public Speaking and Soft Skills, Maverick - Marketing, AdMire- Advertising, Finstreet - Finance, VAPS -Sports, Samavesh - Cultural among others. The college annual fest is called "TRISHNA". All clubs organize several events throughout the year starting with the IBS Dialogue by Speak Up to introduce the club culture in IBS, followed by several standalone events by each club and then ending the year by a flagship event by each club. The competition between the clubs is exhilarating for winning the title of BMC (Best Managed Club) in Trishna.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION
9/10

There are 12 Hostel blocks (7 for boys & 5 for girls) with 10 of them with common washrooms and 1 each with attached washrooms for boys and girls respectively. (The rooms with attached washroom cost an additional 10000 per semester. There are two messes each managed by a different service company and unlike most college mess food, the food here is pretty good. There are several canteens within the campus which are open throughout the day. The hostel also has its canteen to help out students with their late-night munchies.
The academics block is beautiful with around 20 LTs(Lecture theatres) and further many more CRs(Classrooms). This is accompanied by a large Auditorium and a Seminar hall. The campus has an indoor sports auditorium for squash, badminton, table tennis, etc. along with an outdoor sports field for cricket and football and courts for lawn tennis and basketball. The college campus is really beautiful and considering it is a residential college for MBA spread across 100acres, most students are seen taking long walks post class hours.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY
8/10

Classes start from 9:00 AM onwards and go on till 4:30 PM depending on your lecture timings based on your assigned faculty. Each class goes on for 1 hour and 15 minutes followed by a 15-minute break. IBS follows relative marking where students are given grades based on their performance within the classroom across 3 different aspects: CP (Classroom Participation), NCP (Non-Classroom Participation) tests, assignments, and projects and Semester examinations. This builds a healthy competition among peers to excel as everything is relative.

Also, IBS follows the case study methodology in the footsteps of Harvard Business school. 1st-year students get to deal with real-world cases carefully designed by the IBSCDC which is Asia Pacific's largest repository of business management case studies. 2nd-year students get to study the cases straight from Harvard Business school itself. This allows students to get accustomed to the real-world implication of the subjects that are taught in the course curriculum.

  • College life is the best in ICFAI! Lots of clubs, lots of fun and events go on all around the campus every day. You'll never feel bored while on campus. Friends will be your lifeline and everyone will have a "gang" of their own.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION
7/10
  • Infrastructure is good but not well maintained in ICFAI. The grass around the campus gets cut maybe twice a year. But overall there are 100 acres of lush green and facilities such as Library, Gym, Swimming Pool, Indoor stadium, Playing ground is available. The main building is fully air conditioned with screens and projectors at every class.
  • The hostels in ICFAI are usually clean and maintained fairly with decent pricing.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY
7/10
  • There are some top-notch faculty members and some really motivating and inspiring professors. Most of them hold doctoral degrees (from ICFAI itself!!). Some faculties are really unbearable at times. Besides Quality of Teaching, each and every faculty is approachable whenever you have any doubts in your mind or you want guidance.
  • The Academics office in ICFAI is cooperative and helpful, to sum up.

FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP
5/10
  • The Overall Course Fees is really, really high when you compare it with the type of services you get (mess food, academics, hostel).
  • Currently the fees for a course in ICFAI is something north of 14.5 lacs but it is safe to assume that the actual money shelled out of your parent's pocket is 16 Lacs (including night outs and trips). Going by fees it is really high.

PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK
7/10
  • For internships, ICFAI provides the student with two options
    • 1. Self-generate
    • 2. Assistance from College.
  • There are a lot of reputable as well as startup companies that pick up students for internships. Most of them provide low or no stipend, but hey it is the work that matters in the internship and not the money (don't get greedy so early!). Some reputable companies that come for an internship are JPMC, HDFC, HSBC, Novartis, Capgemini, etc. They provide Stipend for those students with 2 or more years of experience.
  • As far as placements go in ICFAI, this year has been a bit dodgy and placements have affected mid-tier B-schools majorly! (read Trump, Brexit, and Demonetization). But so far at least 85% students have been placed and the rest are also being grabbed up by companies as I type this review.
  • Salary packages for Over 200 odd companies visited the campus with packages ranging from 4.5 lakhs to 52 lakhs for the annual ICFAI placements. Finance placements are good so are marketing.HR placements were seldom.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process
  • The Primary Entrance Exam to get into ICFAI any of the IBS campuses is IBSAT, although the college accepts CAT, NMAT and XAT scores as well, but it is preferable to appear for IBSAT as the examination fee is included along with the application fee and is comparatively easier than the other entrance examinations.
  • After IBSAT, admission process continues by which students get calls for the GD&PI process which happens only at the Hyderabad campus. No scores are declared for IBSAT. ICFAI also picks those Students if they hold any of the following:
    • GD(Distinction Certificate)
    • Past Awards
    • Academic Excellence Certificate.
