B.Ed [Bachelor of Education] Details

IGNOU B.Ed admission 2024 will take place in two academic cycles- January and July. IGNOU B.Ed entrance test results for January session were declared on February 28, 2024. Candidates who appeared for the entrance test can view their results via the official website of IGNOU.

IGNOU offers a comprehensive B.Ed course in a full-time format for a duration of 2 years. The maximum duration for the course completion is 5 years. This course equips students with the skills required to ace in the field of education. Candidates can also pursue the IGNOU BEd course in an online distance learning format. 

IGNOU B.Ed Fees

The total average fees for the IGNOU B.Ed course is INR 55,000. This amount indicates the total tuition fee for the program. The IGNOU B.Ed fees can be paid in online or offline payment modes.

IGNOU B.Ed Eligibility

Students who wish to apply for the IGNOU B.Ed course must have passed Graduation/Postgraduation in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity. Candidates having a bachelor's degree in Technology or Engineering with specialisation in Science and Mathematics with at least 55% marks are also accepted. The admission is based on IGNOU B.Ed entrance exam conducted by the institute.

Candidates who are trained in-service teachers in elementary education or have completed a NCTE recgonised teacher education course via face-to-face mode are eligible to apply for the IGNOU B.Ed (ODL) program. Meeting the basic eligibility criteria indicates that the applicant possesses the academic foundation required to complete the B.Ed course.

IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Exam Pattern

IGNOU conducts the B.Ed entrance exam which consists of multiple-choice questions. The duration of the exam is 1 hour and the question paper involves two sections: A and B.

• Part A contains 4 sections- English, Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, and Teaching Aptitude. This part evaluates the candidate's general awareness about several topics associated with the section.
• Part B comprises questions based on the candidate's choice of subject. This part tests the candidate's knowledge in their chosen subject.

Candidates must note that there is no negative marking involved in the exam.

Candidates seeking IGNOU B.Ed admission must meet the respective eligibility criteria. Candidates are accepted based on their marks in the university-based IGNOU B.Ed entrance test. Final selection is done on the basis of the candidate's rank in the merit list.

IGNOU publishes the B.Ed merit list after the declaration of the entrance exam results. The merit list can be checked by the candidates through he university’s official website.
