IGNOU Result Revaluation 2025

IGNOU result revaluation is a formal process to request a reassessment of answer scripts by the University. If the student is not happy with their marks and believes that their exam marks do not accurately reflect their performance, they can apply for the rechecking or revaluation of their answer scripts. IGNOU revaluation is a complete online process that is only available for term-end theory examinations and not for assignments, practicals, or project work. 

• The revaluation request can be made online within one month (or 40 days) of the result declaration.
• IGNOU Revaluation fee is INR 750 per course. fees are non-refundable
• During revaluation, the answer script is re-examined by another evaluator, and the higher marks between the original and revaluated scores are considered for the final result.
• The process is separate from rechecking, which only verifies that marks were correctly totalled and that all responses were marked, whereas revaluation involves a full reassessment of the paper.
• The entire process is conducted online through the IGNOU revaluation portal, and offline submissions are no longer accepted.

Students can request a maximum of 5 papers for revaluation. The process to apply for the IGNOU revaluation results 2025 is as follows:

IGNOU Passing Marks 2025

IGNOU passing marks vary based on the examination (Theory/Practical) and the course. For undergraduate courses, a minimum of 35 marks out of 100 is required in theory papers and 40 out of 100 in postgraduate courses. IGNOU Back Papers 2025

IGNOU back papers (backlogs) allow students to reappear for failed or missed subjects in Term-End Examinations (TEE). You can appear for back papers as long as you're within the maximum duration of your course (e.g., 3 years for a bachelor's program, with possible extensions.Back papers are available for both theory and practical components. There's no limit on the number of attempts within program validity. The IGNOU back papers 2025 fee is INR 200 per course/subject.

IGNOU Improvement Exam 2025

If you studied at IGNOU and have already completed your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, but you are not happy with your final division or percentage, IGNOU gives you an option to try and improve your results. This is called the “Improvement Exam.” However, it’s only available under certain conditions.

Who Can Apply?

• You can apply if you missed getting a higher division (like 1st or 2nd) by no more than 2% of the total marks, or, for some master's degrees, missed 55% by 2% or less.
• This option is for students who have already passed all subjects; it’s not for those who need to clear a failed paper.
• It’s only for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees—other courses aren’t eligible.
• Only written (theory) papers can be improved; you cannot retake exams for practicals, projects, assignments, lab work, or workshops.

How Many Times Can You Try?

• You can only use this improvement exam opportunity once for each program.
• Also, you need to apply within six months after you get your final mark sheet or grade card.

How Many Subjects?

• You can choose to improve up to 25% of the total credits of your program.

When and How to Apply?

• There are two times you can apply each year:
• For the December exams, you apply in April.
• For the December exams, you apply in October.
• You have to fill out the “Improvement Exam” form, attach a copy of your mark sheet, and send it by post to the Student Evaluation Division in New Delhi. At present, applications are not accepted online.
• Remember to write “Application for Improvement in Division/Class” on the envelope.

What’s the Cost?

• For Indian students, the fee is ₹750 per subject.
• For students from SAARC countries, the fee is ₹2,000 per subject.
• For other international students, it costs $60 per subject.
• You need to send the payment by Demand Draft.

How is the Result Decided?

• After you take the improvement exam, whichever marks are higher—your previous score or your improvement exam score—will be counted in your final results.
• If your division/class improves after the exam, your result will be updated with the latest date of completion.
