IIT Delhi PhD Eligibility Criteria 2026

IIT Delhi PhD candidates must fulfil the academic and examination requirements to be shortlisted for the written test or interview.

  • Qualifying Degree: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology (M.Tech/M.E.) or Science (M.Sc.) or Humanities (M.A.) with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.00 CGPA on a 10-point scale.
  • Direct PhD: Exceptional candidates with a B.Tech/B.E. degree from CFTIs with a CGPA of 8.0 or above may apply directly without a Master's degree.
  • National Entrance Exam: A valid GATE score or qualification in CSIR/UGC NET/DST-INSPIRE is mandatory for full-time candidates seeking financial assistance.
  • Relaxation: A relaxation of 5% in marks or 0.5 in CGPA is applicable for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
