Generally M.Sc (mathematics) program is taken by those who are interested either in Teaching as career or doing Research. The students intersted in school teaching they go for B.Ed and for college or university teaching either enroll themselves in Ph.d course or give CSIR-UGC Net exam. Chandigarh University provides CSIR-UGC Net examination coaching to their students which also help them to crack pre Ph.D exam of prestigious instituitions.
Besides this commpetitive exam training is also provided to students those are intersted in doing jobs besides teaching. University has tie up with various companies and industries wherestudents got placements in the area of Finance, Marketing, Sales, Coaching Institutes like Akash etc.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
B.Sc (Non Medical) or B.A with Mathematics degree with 55% marks is required for admission in M.Sc (Mathematics) program in Chandigarh University.
Admission is purely on merit basis. CUCET is organised by university for getting scholarship in course fee.
Around 65% is the last cutoff for genereral category.
Academics and Faculty
M.Sc(Mathematics) is two year program semeseter wise. Classes start from 9:30 onwards to last 4pm depending upon the timetable. There are two mid term tests, three assignments , three tutorial tests or final year students have project during semester. Smart classrooms and well established labs euipped with latest mathematical softwares like Sci Lab, MatLab, Latex , R etc. are availbale in mathematics department. Well qualified and experienced staff is availbale to guide and teach the students.
