National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national-level institute in pharmaceutical sciences in India. It has a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. NIPER is declared by the Government of India as an 'Institute of National Importance'.

An autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India., it is conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and related areas. It is spread in various countries such as South East Asia, South Asia and Africa. NIPER is also a member of Association of Indian Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Admission to the master pharmacy courses, i.e M.Tech.(Pharm), M.S.(Pharm), MBA (Pharm.) is done on the basis of the GPAT score. Qualified candidates will be called to download the letter to attend online counselling in the month of June at the NIPER Hyderabad centre. Counselling is held in the last week of June at NIPER Hyderabad Campus.
