Placements and Internships

4.5

  • I have previously worked as an intern in three companies. (Reliance Ind. Ltd., Clozerr and Frebbo) and am also pursuing a remote internship in IIM Lucknow. I haven't been paid any stipend so far.
  • Engineering, Finance,Marketing, Business Development and Analysts, Coding, Software and Web Designers and Developers. The average pay would be around INR 7 to 8 Lakhs per year.
  • Alumni Network is brilliant and well functioning.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

5

  • Close to 20 hostels with good facilities and a fee of approximately 4500 INR per month.
  • Food is decent. A chargee of 110 INR is levied per day which is included in the hostel fee.
  • Infrastructure is top notch.

Academics and Faculty

5

  • The daily routine is well spaced and manageable. Classes generally start at 8 am and end latest by around 4.30 PM with free hours in between. Exams are scheduled almost once a month and assignments and projectss are informed well beforehand.
  • The Quality and method of teaching is top-notc. Most of the learning is by self-study once the concepts have been covered in the classes. The professors act as great facilitators of learning.
  •  I can dare say without the slightest of doubts that college life is great in IIT Madras and the atmosphere here is the best and most conducive for a jumpstart to our careers.

Fees and Scholarships

4

  • My course fee comes to approximately 1,05,000 INR (1.05 Lakh INR) per year.
  • While the SCs, STs and other low income groups are awarded scholarships, there aren't many options for scholarship apart from them. Also students with family incomes well above the stipulated amount still avail the scholarship thanks to fake certifcates of income produced by such students ffrom their respective native areas.
  • I am not very sure about the average number of students availing scholarship.
  • Loans can be availed from the State bank of India's branch in the institute. However, I feel an educational loan for an undergraduate course is just too cumbersome and a burden at a very early stage

Clubs and Associations

4.5

  • There are a lot of clubs for ethnic groups as well as for vocational groups.
  • Saarang (Cultural fest), Shaastra (Tech Fest), Department Symposiums (Including Management) and Sports Fest and Inter-IIT Sports Fest.
  • College life is great.

Academics & Faculty : Mostly classes are in the morning with afternoon slots occupied by labs for around 3 hours, or tutorial / assignment classes which run from anywhere between 1-2.5 hours. The course material is extensively covered over the duration of the semester with 1 tutorial test/class per week. Exams are conducted once in a month ( Quiz-1, Quiz-2 and end semester) ( Each semester is for 4 months ). Also we have surprise tests ( which generally depends upon the professor taking the course ), which help us to be better prepared for exams.  Over and above all these we get assignments ( usually given if tutorials are not regularly conducted) and end of semester projects which count towards our final evaluation.  The professors are very learned and excel in their chosen field of teaching. Being friendly and approchable one can always approach them with doubts pertaining to the subject. Apart from clearing doubts they are
