St Joseph Engineering College, [SJEC] Mangalore was established in 2002. They provide qualifications for Engineering, Business Administration, and Computer Application for Undergraduates and Postgraduates. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka State, and is also recognized by All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE].

SJEC Mangalore Admissions provides a wide variety of co-curricular activities to develop students in aspects such as leadership qualities etc. Placement cell takes responsibility for placing students in their dream companies. St Joseph Engineering College Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility

BE/B.Tech

  • The candidates must have passed the class 12 examination or other equivalent exams.

  • Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in class 12 with an aggregate of 45% and 40% of the aggregate for the students with a quota, for every candidate. 

MCA

  • Candidate must have passed their under-graduate examination.

  • They should have an aggregate mark of 50% and 45% if the person has a quota.

M.Tech

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree.

  • They should have a minimum of 50% marks and 45% of marks for a person with a quota.

MBA

  • The candidate with the graduation in any stream can take admission.

  • They should have an aggregate of minimum 50% or 45% with quota.

  • Candidates must appear with their PGCET/KMAT/CMAT scorecard

M.Sc

  • The candidate who has passed the B.E / B.Tech Examination of VTU or any other university with a minimum of 60% or equivalent Grade.

  • However, a relaxation to the extent of 10% shall be allowed to SC/ST or any other category as notified by the Government of Karnataka from time to time.

Ph.D

  • The candidate shall possess a Master's Degree in Engineering/ Technology / Management/ Science of VTU or any other University with a minimum of 60% or equivalent grade at Master’s Degree examinations.

  • However, a relaxation to the extent of 10% shall be allowed to SC/ST or any other category as notified by the Government of Karnataka from time to time OR

  • The candidate must have a minimum of five years of experience in teaching or research, subject to the approval of VTU.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY
  1. My daily routine starts from 9 am to 5 pm (Including lunch break). Every day we have a practical lab hour after the lunch break. Projects and assignments are taken care during lab hour itself.
  2. Quality of teaching is excellent. professors are very understanding of any topics they talk about. Method of teaching is innovative as well as traditional.
  3. Overall experience was amazing and it was a very professional way. With the guidance of the college principal, we learn the discipline and corporate behavior inside the college campus itself.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS
  1. There are various student clubs and associations which includes Fine Arts, Sports Club, Fest forum, Yoga and Fitness, and Cultural Group.
  2. The main festivals include TIARA, JOSHIANA, TEC TALENT, SYMGA for various department.
  3. Comparatively academic it was same as other engineering colleges but it was fun being with friends around the eco-green student square campus.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY

As college is the second home for all the students around the globe, St Joseph Engineering College made me feel like home. The faculty of Master of Computer Application at St Joseph Engineering College are very friendly and guide you well during the course. Each lecturer is well versed at the subject he teaches. 

The classes starts at 9 AM and ends at 5 PM from Monday to Friday. On Saturday the classes end at 1 PM. The faculty are very strict about the timmings and strict action will be taken for the late arrivals. 

The assignments are given every week per subject and there are 3 projects in MCA during the course of 3 years.

As I said the college made me feel like home and the faculties were my guides as well as friends


CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS

St Joseph Engineering College has lots of clubs and societies for the students. Each department has a minimum of 2 clubs, where students of other departments are also invited to join. Apart from the clubs and societies, St Joseph Engineering College also conducts fests for each department.

The sports day is conducted every year and even students who are not interested in sports are encouraged to take part in.

The Annual Day is the best day at the St Joseph Engineering College.

I had a great time of my life at St Joseph Engineering College. Even though there were ups and downs during my 3 years course MCA, St Joseph Engineering College always made me forget those downs.

The admission procedure for for B.E (Mechanical Engineering) in St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore is given below, 

  • Selection and Admission- 

    Selection is based on the merit of the candidate in the qualifying examination and Entrance test marks. Selection and admission will be provisional and is subject to the norms prescribed by A.I.C.T.E, V.T.U. and Government of Karnataka.

    The candidates who meet the qualification are required to appear for entrance test and interview to be conducted at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor Mangalore or any other place specified by the college, the exact date of which will be intimated.

    The candidates shall bear all the expenses in connection with the selection interview.

  • Eligibility - Admission to first semester. 

    The candidate shall have passed the second year Pre University or XII standard or equivalent examinations held preceding the date of entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology, Electronics and shall have secured not less than Forty Five (45%) percent of the aggregate marks in optional subjects, with English as one of the languages, for admission to Engineering & Technology Courses.

    Provided further that the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility shall be Forty percent (40%) of aggregate in optional subjects in case of candidates belonging to the **Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes specified in the relevant Government order for the purpose of reservation in respect of Engineering and Technology Courses.

    **Note: The relaxation in academic eligibility is extended only to Karnataka candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes.

    CET or COMEDK score is needed for seats coming under government or minority quota. A small number of seats are reserved under NRI quota.

  • Eligibilty- Admission to third semester.

    Candidates who have passed a three year Diploma in Engineering with minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) in the final year are eligible for lateral entry. As part of their course, such candidates will have to study additional subjects as prescribed by the University.

  • Admission through COMEDK.

    The candidate shall have passed the second year Pre University or XII standard or equivalent examinations held preceding the date of entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology, Electronics and shall have secured not less than Forty Five (45%) percent of the aggregate marks in optional subjects, with English as one of the languages, for admission to Engineering & Technology Courses.

    Applications are invited for the following 4-year B. E. degree courses offered by St Joseph Engineering College Mangalore, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.
