DSPMU, or Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi, was established in 1926 as a Government Intermediate College. In 1946 it became a UG and PG College, and in 2017, it was transformed into a Unitary State University. DSPU offers diploma, certificate, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Humanities, Vocational Studies, Science, Social Science and Commerce. Admissions to most courses are based on merit, but CAT/XAT/MAT/AMTA/CMAT, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, or entrance exams conducted by the university are accepted based on scores.

DSPMU is a 110-acre university located in Ranchi, Jharkhand. It is fully equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and cells like Anti-ragging, Campus Placement, Media, Grievance Against Women Cell and Discipline Cell. DSPMU has three NSS units and NCC as well. DSPMU offers excellent placement opportunities to postgraduate students, and companies like BYJUs, JustDial, ICICI Bank, and HDFC visit the campus for placements.

DSPMU Admission

DSPMU UG admissions 2024 are ongoing. DSPMU admissions are offered at certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in Humanities, Science, Commerce, and Social Science. 

The Certificate and Diploma courses are in Web Designing, Computer Languages, Journalism and Mass Communication, Performing Arts, Remote Sensing and GIS, Computer Application, Law, Information Technology, Environmental Science, and NanoTechnology. 

DSPMU Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the courses at DSPMU, the students must meet the eligibility criteria laid down by the university. The eligibility criteria are listed below.

BSc/BCom/BA Eligibility Criteria

• The students must have passed 10+2 with 50% marks in relevant subjects from a recognised board or university.

MBA Eligibility Criteria

• The students must have passed Graduation in relevant subjects from a recognised board or university
• The students must appear for the CAT/XAT/MAT/AMTA/CMAT exam.

It was established as a college during the pre-Independence time and was made into an undergraduate and postgraduate college in 1946. The college converted into a Unitary State University called Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi.

DSPMU Cutoff

DSPMU cutoff 2022 has been released. The cutoffs are released for the merit for BA and BSc courses. Admissions to MBA course is based on CAT/XAT/MAT/AMTA/CMAT, and PhD admissions are based on UGC-NET and CSIR-NET. The cutoffs are published individually for each examination.
