Shastri Research Student fellowship 2023 is a fellowship initiated by Indo-Canadian Institute for bachelor, master, and M. Phil candidates pursuing courses in recognized Indian and Canadian universities or institutions. It gives opportunities to students to work under their desired research on which they want to acquire experience, or they can also do an internship in Indian/ Canadian Universities under the SICI network. The duration of this fellowship is 8 to 12 weeks.
Note: Shastri Research Student fellowship application for 2023 still needs to be updated. However, the expected date for 2023 will be declared soon.

Before applying for the Shastri Research Student fellowship, applicants should go through the below Shastri Research Student fellowship eligibility criteria. If candidates do not fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria, they will not be eligible for this fellowship.
- Applicants must be from Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute or any other member institute under Shastri Network.
- Applicants should score more than or equal to 65%.
- Applicants should be proficient in oral and written English.
- Candidates should not be doing any simultaneous degree/ diploma.
- M. Phil students should have completed one semester of their degree or course.
- Bachelor's and Masters's degree students should have completed one semester or six months at Canadian University/ Institution. They should have one or three semesters left in their program after availing of the fellowship.
Selected candidates are provided 500-1,000 CAD under this fellowship. This Shastri Research Student fellowship amount is only provided when the applicant's home institution does not provide these facilities. Fellowship amount is given for expenses related to subscription of online meeting software, telephone bills, internet connection, affiliation fee/ registration fee to access lab facility or library. The amount is given in two equal installments.
How to Apply?
Candidates interested in applying for this scholarship must apply online by visiting the official Shastri Research Student fellowship portal. Candidates may refer to the steps below to know the procedure for applying for this scholarship.
Step 1: Visit the official web portal of the Shastri Research Student fellowship.
Step 2: Candidates have to register themselves first.
Step 3: After registering, log in to the website.
Step 4: The application form will now appear in front of the candidate.
Step 5: Candidates must fill in all the details in the Shastri Research Student Fellowship application form and upload all the necessary documents on that web portal.
Step 6: Now submit your application form after reviewing it carefully.
Following is the list of Shastri Research Student fellowship documents required to be submitted along with the application form. Candidates should submit all the below-mentioned documents at the desired address. Any incomplete application (including submitting documents) will not be considered.
- Supervisor authorization
- Two reference letters (from their thesis supervisor/HoD)
- Letter of invitation/affiliation (from the host faculty)
- Certificate of ethical approval (if any)
- Applicant's passport
- Employer's endorsement (in case of employed)
