Here at SMVDU the classrooms are well lighted and well managed. All classrooms and Lecture halls are equipped with projectors, Black boards and White boards. The labs in the Computer Science School are equipped with the latest RAMs and operating systems in all the systems. And all the different kinds of softwares needed for the semester are installed in advance.

Their are Mess Halls(for dining purposes) separately in each hostel. A shopping complex comprising of various shops for day to day needs and stalls for eating. There are 2 Girls hostels and 5 Boys hostels respectively in the campus itself. Each hostel is supplied with a Wi-Fi system for internet usage and their are personal IPs and Login Details for each student of SMVDU. The college campus is very large and greeny as in comprised of natural beauty. The Trikuta Hills can be seen in the background of the scenic beauty.

For the transportation facility, their are metadors available every half an hour just outside the college campus at the college entrances. But the metadors are mostly populated and you may not get a seat while travelling. But on the contrary if you are in a group then you can easily rent a Taxi for your transportation between Jammu and SMVDU.

The neighbouring area includes a village named Reasi, Panthal and just outside the campus entrances you can find various local vendors and shops for your daily Requirements.

This university has one of the best time schedules where classes are taken from 8:30am to 5:30pm with a 1 hour in between from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. The students at SMVDU experience a remarkable & refreshingly different teaching-learning process which goes beyond the mundane and has been pioneered at the IITs for many decades.

Academic Flexibility, Focus on Hands-on Learning, Varied Pedagogy, Mandatory Industrial Interface & Transparent Continuous Evaluation System are the hallmarks of the Academic Process at SMVDU. Extensive usage of varied contemporary pedogagy like Multi-media teaching aids, including Digital Light Projectors, Overhead Projectors, Net Enabled Labs, Video Conferencing, Cut Section Models, Simulation & Analysis Software, Colloquiums, Seminar, Field Trips, Mini & Major Projects enrich the teaching-learning process.

SMVDU students are encouraged to break the mould and go beyond their disciplnes, inter-disciplinary courses are highly encouraged.  Students are provided the flexibility to go beyond the traditional course requirements ad choose courses based on their interest and career choice.  At SMVDU, you will see a B.Tech student choosing courses on Philosophy & Morals or Languages even in the final year.  At SMVDU we believe that every student needs to garner knowledge in multiple spheres which will give him an edge in the tough and competitive arena of Life.  Open & Core Electives are offered to students to make choices based on their interest.

Professors are available on campus for assessment at any time during working hours or they can provide you with a time appropriate as per their routine whenever they are free or available for assessing you.

There is a strong focus on Laboratory & Project based learning.  Industrial / corporate Training is mandatory requirement in the curriculum besides the field trips.

College tution fees is around Rs.66,000 per year. Here the scholarships are provided on the basis of your CGPA. You should atleast get 8.5 to be eligible for availing the scholarship. As per college academic rules their are 8 semesters in total for Computer Science and Engineering course. The Scholarships are given to top 6 students having 8.5 or above CGPA. The fee waiver goes like this : for top CGPA scorer 100%, for second 75%, for third 50%, for fourth 25%, for fifth 15% and for sixth it is 10% of your tution fees per semester.

Their are 2 banks in the college campus itself viz. J&K Bank and OBC Bank. Both the banks provide students to open their own new accounts and their are 2 ATMs for both the banks as well. J&K ATM is available 24Hrs a day while that of the OBC Bank is available in the working hours of the bank.

For other banks and financial options their are Banks and aids provided in the holy city of Katra which is just about 8Kms away from the main college campus.

SMVDU has many running clubs viz. Cultural, Sports, Literary, Quiz and Photography. There is also an election process for the assignment of duties of these clubs and associations to various students. I am too associated to the Cultural Club as a Committee member for the process of execution of various events and I am an active member in the Dance Club of SMVDU and has sent my teams for competition purposes to various universities as well.

The same goes for the sports club, here at SMVDU we have a very large ground for all the sports activities, and many lawn courts for various matches of cricket, badminton, Tennis, Volleyball etc..
