College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- Classrooms are fine but they can be improved further in SRM University - [SRM], Kanchipuram.
- Labs are excellent.
- Wifi is often slow (often get 128kbps) during college hours.
- The Hostel wifi is activated after 6 pm. Speeds from 6-12 hover around 128-256kbps and at night they can go over 30mbps.
Academics and Faculty
- Odd semesters are fine but even semesters feel like we are being burdened with tests and assignments in SRM University - [SRM], Kanchipuram.
- Tests are not that hard. Electives can be chosen later. SWE doesn't have many electives.
- The quality depends on the professor. Most of the time they teach using powerpoints. Listening to classes makes it easy for tests.
- The Professors give their contact details and specific timings on when you can reach them
Fees and Scholarships
- Department offers scholarships on a semester basis in SRM University - [SRM], Kanchipuram.
- Students who scored really high in Tamil boards or scored really well in JEE can apply for a scholarship.
Clubs and Associations
- There are various clubs that you can join in SRM University - [SRM], Kanchipuram.
- There are some really good clubs like SRM aeromodelling club and SRM Caber racing.
- These two stand out where as other clubs usually aren't heard of outside the department.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : SRM Institute of Science and Technology is deemed to be a University which, has its own entrance exam - SRMJEEE, a computer-based examination for 125 marks in 2 hours and 30 minutes testing your physics, chemistry, math, English, and aptitude ( will have to appear for biology is your course requires) one who is desiring to join SRM should take up this exam and clear it, the rank obtained will decide your preference. Also, on cracking JEE Mains, you will be eligible for admissions in SRM. There are various campuses, and the eligibility criteria differ for each. In the Chennai campus for the B.tech course, a minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required in PCM subjects which also should be your core subjects. On fulfilling these criteria, you can secure your place in this college.
