Placements and Internships
- I don't have any internships as of now because I am a first-year student. But there are a lot of opportunities to do internships.
- All type of companies come to Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Chennai for placements from Google, Microsoft, Uber, Wipro, Goldman Sacs, L&T etc.
- The average salary package depends on your branch. The typical average for a civil department is 8.5 Lakhs per annum whole that of the institute is around 10 Lakhs per annum in the engineering division. 90% of the people who apply for the placements get placed.
- CET is dependent on Alumni for various things and hence has a great Alumni Network.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- The fees for hostel and mess combined for 1 semester in Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Chennai is 26000/- in which some amount is also saved for medical and to manage extracurricular activities of students. There is a total of 20 hostels out of which 4 are for girls. These hostels are quite nice and managed by the students itself. Boys hostels have a nice playing arena too.
- I don't Know much about PG students but the mess food is very bad.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- The eligibility criteria in Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Chennai is a person must have cleared JEE Advanced and should have minimum obtained percentage in 12 CBSE.
- The cut-off's is on the basis of rank obtained in JEE Advanced. The cut-off for my year (2016) was 4573 (which was mine) in the General Category (about 50% of seats are reserved).
Academics and Faculty
- Classes for UG students in Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Chennai are from morning 9 am to evening 5 pm with certain free slots according to the courses they pursue (lunch from 1-2). The PhD students often seem coming back from labs late night.
- There's no doubt that IIT hires one the best professors in the country with the use of most of the technology but still if any batch of a student is not comfortable with any of the professor's way of teaching they can get their professor changed.
- The overall experience from the academic point of view is quite hectic but it always feels nice to study in one the prestigious institution of the country.
Fees and Scholarships
- The course fee in Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Chennai including Hostel and Mess for both the semesters combined reaches to 2.70 lacks for General and OBC students & 50000/- for SC , ST's PWD & students of general and OBC category whose parental income is less than 1LPA (They are waived from tuition fee). For students whose parental income is 1-5 Lakhs Per Annum are waived from 60% of the tuition fee.
- A lot of scholarships are available for category students and students with less parental income(less than 5 lacks) but not many opportunities are there for the deserved students.
- Loans are certainly required for poor students but are also easily available in the name of an IIT student from all leading banks in India.
Clubs and Associations
- There are various student societies in Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Chennai like music, dance, arts, games etc.
- The campus is in south India the main festival is Pongal but we do celebrate all festivals. Apart from these we also annually have a Tech fest, a Sports fest and a cultural fest which is entirely managed by students. All the departments also have a department fest which is also managed by students. Annually there are competitions like Inter - IIT sports meet, cultural meet, tech meet in which teams from all IIT's compete against each other. The venue for the event changes every year to different IIT. The life in campus is very smooth in terms of society and culture.

Placements & Internships : Internships are provided. OLA,FUTURESFIRST,HCL,ITC,INFOSYS,MICROSOFT,FACEBOOK GOOGLE,GROFFERS ETC. are some companies which I know from last three years comes for the placements. Here in IIT Madras in 2015 placements held on December, the percentage of students applied for placement is approximately 88% and among them successfully placed are 81% the rest 7 percent got placed in the second phase of interviews and average salary is Rs 7 lakhs per annum.

Academics & Faculty : Class timings and curriculum is Perfect for the students

Academics & Faculty : Daily routine is good. 8 AM class commences and it goes till 4:30 PM. Exams are tough but there are plenty of assignmnets given and graded which ensure you atleast pass. There is not much project orientaition in Academics. But there are clubs which one can join and pursue a project of his interest. Quality and method of teaching is good. Many teachers teach in a practical way, more examples, more real life examples and problems a challenge to think. College is amazing more exposure to extra curicular, co-curicular. Students efficiency inceases alot and anyone institute is never free always engrosed in some or the other activity.
