School of Open Learning [SOL] was established in the year 1962. It is a part of the Campus of Open Learning and was formerly known as The School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education. The institute was established by the University of Delhi. SOL Du has grown up to be a pioneer Institution in the field of Distance Education in India. SOL DU has 2 campuses functioning in the North and South of delhi.

SOL DU offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Arts and Commerce. The medium of instruction is through printed study material and Online Content. The University of Delhi confers the degree to the students of the School. The school started with the admission of 900 students in the first year and went on to be one of the biggest student destinations under the Delhi University. The college provides quality education in the field of Commerce, Education, Humanities and Arts. Along with the courses, the SOL DU admissions provides simple steps for admission through Online.

Du SOL is in the process of opening new study centre in Eastern and Western NCR of Delhi to reach out to more students. Faculties are always available at the main campus for academic and study interactions with the students. SOL DU offers Distance Education mode for the students who are in requirement of flexible learning. It has a very good library to facilitate wide area of exposure to the Courses offered, The school also has its South Study Centre at South Moti Bagh, New Delhi.

SOL DU Placements is carried out in its dedicated placement cell. It established at the DU campus on September 4, 2018, for the benefit of SOL students. The Cell was formed to address the need of students to find a suitable placement after completion of their studies at SOL. 

  • Interaction of students with the recruiters is possible with a placement cell.
  • Frequent placement drives are carried out to help the students.
  • 300 of the 2000 students participated are placed in the companies.
  • Placement drives are held in collaboration with many organisations like Dalmia and Axis Bank.

DU SOL Infrastructure facilities in the North and South campus are great and they cater to the need of students. Even though it is a distance learning program, provisions for study material to the students are done so that they can make use of it.

  • A huge study room with seating capacity for over 200 students help students to study in peace and concentrate on the course work.
  • Students can use the Computer and Online facilities and the E- Resources (E-Books & E-Journals).
  • Books, Periodicals, Journals, magazines, newspapers are all present in the library and online content will be available 24/7.
  • The course materials are mailed to the student and are updated time to time so that the students are up to with the latest knowledge.
  • The faculty are very experienced and atleast one senior faculty will always be in college to help the students with any doubts.

For UG courses through the SOL’s official website i.e.https://sol.du.ac.in. For PG Courses, application interface is common for all the departments of Delhi University at https://du.ac.in

How can I get a fee concession, being a BPL/PWD student?

All BPL students having a valid BPL Card are required to apply for the Fee Concession separately after taking the Admission in the SOL. PWD candidates are given on the spot Fee Concession while taking admission.

How can I change my Medium of Study?

Student can contact in the Concerned Admission Section of SOL alongwith his/her Fee-Receipt to get his medium of study changed.

What is the time period of applying for Subject change after my Admission?

Generally, there is a fixed last date for applying for Change of Subject after the closure of admissions in SOL.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY

Class timing is only Sunday at 9:00 AM. An excellent method of teaching. There is no minimum attendance required so one can skip going to college.


CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS

There are no student societies, clubs and associations on campus. Every festival is celebrated on campus. The life in college is good.

Class timings are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sundays every week. Method of teaching is great innovative. Overall all experience in 3years is absolutely awesome. campus give fun in learning all is great.

Associations are formed for betterment are very cooperative and energetic. Every festival is celebrated in the campus with good faith Life is awesome.

  • Candidate should have 40% (38% - OBC; Min Passing Marks - SC/ST) or above in aggregate in any of the qualifying examinations.
B.A. (Hons) (English)
  • Candidate should have 65% (58.5% - OBC; Min Passing marks - SC/ST) marks or more in any qualifying exam.
  • Candidate should have 75% (67.5% -OBC; Min Passing - SC/ST) marks in English core or 65% (58.5% - OBC; Min passing marks) marks in English elective.

SOL DU admission process are done online and Indian Nationals as well as NRIs can take admission into SOL.The admission guidelines need to be thoroughly read as mistakes will be entertained. 

Undergraduate course:

  • Students passed from CBSE (Delhi Region) opting compulsory languages courses as English/Hindi/Punjabi/Tamil of the B.Com and B.A. Program have to upload following documents:
    • Recent Photograph and Signature
    • Other educational documents will not be uploaded at the time of admission. However, on demand, it should be produced/uploaded as per requirenment.
  • Students passed from CBSE (Delhi Region) opted compulsory languages courses as English/Hindi/Punjabi/Urdu/Tamil of the B.Com and B.A. Programe and student applying for B.Com(Hons.)Pol.Sci. have to uploaded following documents:
    • Recent Photograph and Signature
    • Self Attested copy of Class-X Marksheet.
    • Self Attested copy of Class-Xll Marksheet.
  • For Students from other than CBSE Boards, CBSE compartment cases and CBSE (Non-Delhi Region) have to upload the following documents:
    • Recent Photograph and Signature
    • Self Attested copy of Class-X Certificate and Marksheet.
    • Self Attested copy of Class-Xll Certificate and Marksheet.
      (current students can send scanned copy of the Provisional Certificate)
    • Scanned copy of Migration Certificate ( if the candidates studied from boards other than Delhi like NIOS, UP,Bihar,Haryana, Rajasthan etc.)
  •  Students applying against the reserved (SC/ST/OBC/PWD/etc.) and BPL category have to upload the follwing documents, as applicable, in addition to the above mentioned documents.
    • Self Attested copy of Reverse Category Certificate of the candidates only, if applicable (SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc. candidates) certificate of the candidate must be have been issued before the date of admission.
    • Self attested copy of Original Income Certificate, if applying for fee concession/Financial Assistance.
    • Self attested copy of BPL/AAY Ration Card, if applying for Financial Assistance.

Important Note:

  • The digital size of the file of the photographs(.jpg format) must be more than 4 kb and less than 24 kb with resolution of 100 pixel width and 120 pixel height.
  • The signature must be uploaded in jpg format. The digital size of the signature file must be more than 1 kb and less than 12 kb with resolution of 40 pixel width by 60 pixel height.
  • The digital size of the file other than Photograph and Signature (like 10th Marksheet, 12th Marksheet, 12th Certificate, etc) must be less than 2 MB(.pdf format).

PostGraduate Course:

Direct Admissions:

The admission procedure for direct admission should be on Campus and the candidate need not produce any document as SOL will have all the necessary documents required. Direct admission is the promoting of a student currently studying in Undergraduate degree at SOL to a Postgraduate degree at SOL-DU. 

Admission through Entrance Test:

  • An Entrance Examination for the respective Master Degree course will be conducted at the School (Main) building
  • Successful candidates in this examination will be eligible for admission at the School of Open Learning.
  • All candidates will have to pay an Entrance Examination fee (non-refundable) Rs.250/- for General Candidates and Rs.100/- for SC/ST/PC candidates at the time of registration.
  • Candidates seeking admission to the School of Open Learning through the Entrance Examination will have to pay this fee through Cash / Bank Draft in favour of the Executive Director, School of Open Learning, University of Delhi.
