Gargi College, Delhi University was established in the year 1967. The college was named after an enlightened woman named Gargi, who was an intelligent and bold person. In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad of the Vedic Age, she is portrayed as a person with an intellectual potential who continues to manifest themselves in a quest for ever-widening fields of knowledge.

Gargi College Delhi was awarded the prestigious College with a Potential for Excellence grant, by the University Grants Commission in the year 2004-2005. Gargi College had its first cycle of assessment by NAAC and the college scored an ‘A’ grade in 2016.

Gargi College Admissions are done through the walk-in-test process. The institute offers various courses in Arts, Commerce, Science, and Education. It has across 20 undergraduate and 2 postgraduate courses and aims at providing quality education to all the students. The College also arranges inter-disciplinary seminars at the national level every year.

  • Laboratories: The college has Botany, Chemistry, Elementary Education, Microbiology, Physics, Psychology, and Zoology laboratories with well-equipped resources.

  • Seminar Hall: The seminar hall is splendiferous with a seating capacity of 125 and is instrumented with the latest audio-visual equipment.

  • Medical Room: Medical facility is available for all the students during working hours. Medical and dental check-ups are conducted in the college regularly by qualified medical professionals.

Gargi College, Delhi University Eligibility Criteria and Admission Procedure

Gargi College Eligibility Criteria:

The courses offered by Gargi College has different eligibility criteria. Candidates need to meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria in order to opt for respective courses:



B.Com [Hons.]

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 45% in aggregate and must have studied Maths/ Business Maths in the qualifying examination.


  • The candidate must have a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination. 

B.Sc [Hons.] (Maths)

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 45% in aggregate and must have 50% marks in Mathematics.

B.Sc [Hons.] (Botany, Zoology, Micro-bio)

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 55% in PCB.

B.Sc [Hons.] (Physics, Chemistry)

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 55% in PCM and 50% in English.


  • The candidate must have a minimum of 45% in the aggregate PCM and 40% in English 

B.Sc (Physical Science)

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 45% in the aggregate PCM and 40% in English.

Gargi College Admission Procedure:

The candidate seeking admission for any of the course can register online or offline. The candidates applying must satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned by the college. The college provides experienced lecturers for every course.

Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com], batch of 2016

The daily routine is from 9 AM - 3 PM. Proper assignments, projects are being given by the teachers. The quality and method of teaching are excellent. The overall experience in college is awesome.


Students societies are the department societies itself. The main festivals on campus are the respective college fests. In general, the life of college is good.

Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com] {Hons.}, batch of 2019

Gargi college has great faculty, teachers are very cooperative and most of the subjects are taught using power point presentations.


Life in this College is amazing. Gargi's annual fest 'Reverie' is one the top fests of DU. Other than the annual fest the college also organizes various other department fests , there is a Diwali celebration too. Gargi has one of the best societies of Delhi University. Be it the dance society, the dramatics society, the debating society all are amazing.

My college is a regular basis. Daily routine class started at 9:30 am. Projects is compulsory exams started in September... The quality of teaching is very good and easier to learn. Teachers are so loving and supportive Frank also... My experience in this college is going excellent now. I love my friends' teachers and overall staff


The students are very good and following schedule... Our team is creative about socializing topics and do new things and a good motivator. Functions are very well and enjoyable... Life of college is 4 years only cause a course limit 4 years ...timing to enjoy

  • Everyday is different in the psychology department of the college. The timetable is very flexible. Usually, the college starts from 8:45am.

  • The college offers a variety of societies including dance, music, drama, Ncc, photography, etc.
  • Reverie is the college annual fest.
  • The college is amazing. It is the best for holistic development for students.

  • Gargi college is a no smoking zone as well as no alcohols.
  • Nobody can smoke or drink in the college.
  • There are no bars near the college. So, this is a plus point as it doesn't hamper the status.

Admission Procedures.

  1. The subject 'lnformatics Practices' will be equivalent to Computer Science for admission to B.Sc.(Hons.) Computer Science only.
  2.  The candidates must have studied and passed Mathematics at the qualifying exam for admission to Honours in Commerce.
  • (a) For admission to Honours in any language course, advantage of 2% in the Best of Four percentage will be given to those candidates who have studied the elective language.
  • (b) In case, a candidate has not studied the language at qualifying exam and is seeking admission to Honours in that language, she will be given a disadvantage of 5% in Best of Four percentage.
  • (c) For admission to Honours in English and Hindi, the candidate must have studied and passed the respective language in the qualifying exam and it will be included for calculation of Best of Four percentage.

• Self-attested copies will be accepted. It is made clear that if any false attestation/falsified records are detected, the student will be debarred from attending any course in the University or its college(s) for next five years and in addition, a criminal case under relevant sections of IPC (viz. 470, 471, 474 IPC etc.) will be instituted against her to subject her to the requisite criminal proceeding.
