Debayantalukder
Bachelor of Arts [BA] (English Literature), batch of 2022
ACADEMICS & FACULTY

Classes at Hans Raj begin early, at about 8:40 am. The average duration of a class is a solid 1 hour. There is a break time at 12:40 pm, and classes resume at 1:00 pm. Usually, the classes last from 4-5 pm.

There are, in total, six semesters, i.e., three years. There are odd and even semesters. Odd semesters have exams during November-December while the even ones have it to May-June. The exam has recently shifted to an OBE mode (Open Book Examination) due to the pandemic.

The faculty is one of the very best at Hans Raj; highly qualified teachers with years of experience provide the best experience. Professors are friendly and a lot of help. Teaching takes place even outside the class; professors take you on long excursion-like walks. In addition, they organize many events and seminars by the English Department that enriches the learning experience.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS

DU is known for its student societies. You name an area of interest, and you got it. There are a wide range of societies that provide you a ton of experience. For example, Hans Raj has one of the best Drama societies in the whole of DU. Also, the Music society Swaranjali is well known throughout DU. They go for inter-college competitions and IITs all over India to showcase their talents.

Hans Raj holds sports meet and organized various cultural events on campus. The fest season, January-March, is when all the colleges get vibrant and colorful with their fests. It is a great time to showcase your skills and earn some experience.

College life is pretty enriching and gives you a lifetime experience. You make great connections that will help you for the rest of your lives. Moreover, Delhi University is a very prestigious institution to be in; the DU tag is worth everything, if nothing at all.
