Placements and Internships
Generally, internships take place in the 8th semester which you can either do from any Port authority or onboard (that is, on the ship). The stipend varies from company to company, the average being 30000 Indian rupees per month. The salary ranges from 90k to 2 lakhs per month for the starters and increment are good. Key companies are NYK, Fleet Management, Chellships, etc.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
Everyone needs to stay in the hostel as it is compulsory. The course fee includes the hostel charges too. Food costs are also included in the course fee. Good food, good rooms, free WiFi and Libraries, nice field and a well-groomed basketball court, Gymnasium, everything makes it a great college.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
The best in India, and the 2nd Best in Asia, MERI has been a brand for Marine Engineering students in India. For admission, one needs to apply for the IMU CET exam, generally held during the month of May. But to apply, you need to have a Science background in High School with 60 percent and above marks in the board's exam in all the science subjects and English too. Once you are eligible, you have to make sure you rank within 600 in the exam to get through this college. Placements are good and nearly 100 percent except for the candidates who have arrears during the time of Campus Interview.
Academics and Faculty
Class starts from 9.30 am till 5 pm. Two semesters happen per year. Few projects are there which depends upon the semester. The teachers are mostly ex-mariners or from mechanical engineering colleges.
Fees and Scholarships
The course fee is 9 lakhs for 4 years. Scholarships are obviously available, the 1st rank gets 1 lakh rupees and the next 29 gets 75000 rupees per semester. The scholarship is readily available from SBI.
Clubs and Associations
Tempest is the name of the fest which occurs in November. Few other festivals do take place. No such societies or clubs do we have.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Eligibility criteria are 10+2 from PCM stream with minimum 60% in PCM for B.Tech (Marine Engineering). Should be less than 25 years of age. There is an Entrance Exam known as Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test ( IMU-CET) for the admissions in the colleges under Indian Maritime University, Chennai. There are basically two rounds of counseling. The cutoff for the First Round of General Cat. Is around 1000 rank in IMU-CET and for the Second Round is around 1700 rank in IMU-CET.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : IMU CET exam is conducted every year for admission to IMU colleges. After getting a fine rank you will be eligible for this college as this is the best college among IMU colleges. If u get rank within 500 in general category you can easily get admission.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : One should have 75% in PC in their 12tyh Board. Age limit is 25 years. You can take as many attempts as you want within 25 years of age. Nowadays IMUCET is the examination held to take admission in IMU courses. For admission in Kolkata campus which is best of India, you need rank within top 600 if you are in general.
