Placements and Internships
- UPES is known for its industrial links which mean getting the opportunity to an internship with a good company is easier if you are a UPES student UPES is the first university and the only universityIndia to have an educational collaboration with IT giant IBM and that's a big thing. In UPES according to your capabilities you can get to sit in interviews from companies like Microsoft and Amazon also , as in UPES a student studies a specialization course in computer science specially, he is more valued then others. Most of the branches of computer science perform with a 100% placement result.
- The Alumni network is amazing part of the college, Most of the colleges don't really treat their alumni properly but UPES takes care that juniors get to learn from the alumni.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- There are two hostels for boys and one for girls inside the campus. Being a loved university the hostel gets fill quite early, and a major strength of students stay in nearby private hostels which collaborate with the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies.
- The average hostel fee per year is 1.3 lakh.
- PGs and rooms are available very easily in the vicinity of the university. With a three-story food court, a cafeteria and another homemade food shop on the campus.
- Tthe quality of food here is homely and tasty, with costing a meal starting from rupees 50.
- The quality of classrooms is fully equipped with all the comforts and technologies to make learning interesting, with countless specialised labs, which are also equipped with the latest technology.
- It's 24 hours unlimited, free Wi-Fi in the campus, 3 story library with an e-library on the third floor, the college is full of knowledge. There are about 12 blocks in the college each with about 100 rooms and labs. Blocks are interlinked to one another for easy movement, there is a shopping complex in the campus, with a salon inside.
- So overall infrastructure of the college is well planned and student oriented.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies conducts its own entrance exam (UPESEAT) for engineering courses also there is the option of JEE MAIN merit. But priority is given to students who sat for UPESEAT.
- The eligibility Criteria for admission is 75% aggregate marks in board exams. With physics and chemistry. A lot of student give the exam and its very competitive to get a nice branch in UPES
Academics and Faculty
- The daily routine classes start at 9:30 or 10:00 in the morning in University of Petroleum and Energy Studies and usually you get 4-5 subjects on average to study In a semester. Also, UPES has a lot of online and hybrid courses that means you study a part of your subjects online sitting at your hostel. With its industry related course material, UPES has completely preplanned and relevant subjects and syllabus to study.
- Overall UPES is a student's university, overall experience here is amazing and refreshing.
Fees and Scholarships
- The course fees here in University of Petroleum and Energy Studies is 2-3 lakh per year based on the course you select.
- Students scoring above 90% in board exams get scholarships of about 1.3 lakh.
- About 30% of students get benefited from these scholarships UPES is known as a scholar university among many public and private banks, so it's very easy to get a loan for studies in UPES. Also UPES has tie-ups with SBI(State Bank of India) and OBC( Oriental Bank of Commerce) which makes the loan procedure much easier
Clubs and Associations
- There are more than 100 student societies and clubs in the college(University of Petroleum and Energy Studies) with amazing events going on and helping students to learn together.
- There are three main festivals that held yearly events the college fest called UURJA. The tech fest called Ignite. And the fresher's party. Along with that many technical groups of the college organise their own tech fests to keep the learning and fun going.
- Life in college is tension free and enjoyable, there is always a smile on a UPES student when he is inside the campus.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria for UPES is minimum 60% marks in CBSE boards. Also, admission is taken through UPESEAT exam too. I took the UPESEAT exam to get into the University. For my course cutoff is approx 9000 rank. This is because the University is having domain specific computer science branches due to which seats get increased.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : Through entrance exam or board merit/JEE Main scores. 80% of the seats are reserved for those who are allotted on the basis of entrance examination and the remaining 20% will be through board merit or JEE Main scores. The eligibility criteria of UPESEAT 2018 should be checked by the candidates before filling the application form. The candidates should have secured at least 60% marks at Higher and Senior Secondary Level (10th and 12th). Should have scored minimum 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at Senior Secondary level (12th). Non-Exam Pathway (up to 20% Seat Distribution) Board Merit: The candidates should have secured minimum 80% marks in 10th and 80% in 12th standard (or equivalent examination) in PCM. An aggregate to 80% should also have scored in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at Senior Secondary Level (12th standard).
