Placements and Internships
- Many companies visit IITK for the placements and internships. Some companies are department specific and some are open for all departments.
- Average salaries varies depending upon departments and program. Computer Sciences average salary is highest. There are also international offers made by some companies.
- There is a strong alumni network in place which goes back long enough and the spread is all across the globe and across organizations of different types. There are Alumni meets that happen every year at several locations across the country where graduates from batches of 1960's also join and share their experience with the younger generation.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- Hostels on and off campus available. Though I doubt anyone avails off campus. Everyone promotes on-campus culture. I lived in hostel.
- Everything was great well except mess food.
- The Academic Area of IITK is very large and is fully Wifi enabled. It consists of all the Labs,the Lecture hall complex,Faculty building,P.K Kelkar Library,Computer center and various canteens .Various Departmental Buildings are also present in the Academic Area.Also,Cafe Coffee Day is there to chill out. The Lecture Hall Complex has 17 Lecture halls and a Tutorial Block. There is a Institute Bus facility and a Registered Taxi service which runs within and outside the campus.Within campus, students usually travel through their own cycles.
Academics and Faculty
- Academics at IIT Kanpur is very intensive for all Departments. Classes are held 5 days a week between 8 am to 5 pm. Class activities primarily includes covering predefined syllabus by professors, surprise quizes, assignment presentations etc. There are wide range of electives one can do irrespective of departments. Professors are easily accessible outside classes also.
Fees and Scholarships
- The course fee per year is Rs 90000. The return on investment is best that makes the IIT Kanpur the pioneer institute.
- The scholarships are on merit cum means basis, sports, research, alum scholarships and free basic means to the students of reserved castes.
- Loans are easily available through the banks just on the basis of academic performance in the college.
