Placements and Internships

3.5

  • VIT ensures that no one goes unplaced. It has a mass recruitment program. Top IT companies participate in this drive. The other categories of companies coming for placement are Dream and Superdream. The number of companies for non-coding branches is much lesser than those for coding branches. However, the lack in quantity is made up for by quality. Top firms which are the best in their domains grace our campus and select the cream of the batch. I can't comment much on the placement scenario being an MS aspirant myself, but I feel VIT needs to have a better and bigger repertoire of companies attending campus placements. Internships are solely based on the students' personal efforts and there is not much support from the college regarding this. I've done an industrial internship in BHEL and a research internship at IITM, both sourced through my own efforts.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4.5

  • Infrastructure is VIT's strong suit. A sprawling, green campus, hygienic, modern hostel blocks, state of the art labs and instruments, a 7-floor library, etc are all yours to utilise as a student.

Academics and Faculty

3

  • The definite plus point is the wide variety of courses that are offered and the flexibility that students have in choosing what courses they want to do. I had the opportunity to do several amazing courses while satisfying my electives requirement. I can't speak for other departments but mine had professors who had excellent knowledge in their subjects and could articulate it very well to us. What was disappointing was the testing. I felt like the exams didn't give a window for the student to actually learn and apply his subject. While there are a few courses which have a project component included with them, students usually have to rely on themselves and take the initiative to do projects through non-academic means.

Fees and Scholarships

4

  • VIT has a very standard and affordable fee structure. Most other private colleges of its stature charge much higher in comparison. The tuition fee for my batch(2012-16) comes to around INR 1,10,000 per year. But it has increased over the years, although still remaining reasonable.
  • There are scholarships available to students who secure top ranks in the entrance examination and there is support available for students who have financially challenged backgrounds.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The admission procedure and  eligibility criteria are that a candidate should have completed graduation in ECE/EE from any AICTU with first-class. There was a separate entrance exam for M.tech which you have to qualify. As per my knowledge is concerned scoring above 60% is a guarantee of a seat in M.Tech and after there will be counseling in which you can opt your course according to your choice and rank.
