CA CPT Exam Pattern 2023

The exam pattern for CPT is discussed below. Candidates can find the weightage of each section, the marking scheme, and other specifications in this section. Any CA CPT exam pattern change made by the conducting authorities will be updated here soon after.

CA CPT 2023 Sessions Pattern

The CA CPT exam 2023 has two sessions with two subjects each. The sessions are for 2 hours. The subjects and the timing for each session is as tabulated below.

CA CPT Session I

First session consists of two sections. The candidate is given 2 hours to attempt the questions. The paper is for 100 marks and the division of marks are as follows.

  • Section A:  Fundamentals of Accounting (60 Marks)
  • Section B: Mercantile Laws (40 Marks)

The second session has different weights for the two subjects. It also consists of 100 questions and has a time limit of 2 hours to answer all the questions.

CPT 2023 Important Instructions

Details: The candidate, while writing in the OMR answer sheet, should ensure that they write the correct question paper number, roll number, registration number, question paper series code as given to them. It is mandatory to darken the appropriate circle of correct answers with a black ballpoint pen.

Booklet and OMR Sheet: Each candidate is given one question paper booklet of English/ Hindi language as preferred by the student and one OMR answer sheet (in English language only) for each session.

Marking the Answer: Each column in the answer sheet corresponds to the serial number of the question given in the question paper booklet. In each column, 4 circles correspond to the four options for the answer, of which one is to be darkened on the answer sheet only. Any answer marked/ darkened in the question booklet is taken cognizance of, and no marks are awarded.

Marking Scheme: The question paper for each session consists of 100 objective-type questions. Each question is of 1 mark, and for every question, four options for the answer are given in the booklet. The candidate must select the correct out 4 options: A, B, C, or D, and mark the circle using a black ballpoint pen or HB pencil. In the image below, you can see how the applicants should mark the OMR sheet answers.

Correct Answer: For each correct answer, 1 mark is awarded.

Wrong Answer: For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks are deducted.

Multiple Darkened Circles: Multiple darkened circles for a question are treated as a wrong answer.

Not Answered: For questions not answered, i.e., left blank, no marks are given.

Option: The candidate can erase the answer if they want to change the answer already darkened.

Essentials: In such a case, they should make the corrections with a good eraser so that no marks will be visible after erasing.
