CA-CPT 2018 Introduction:

  • About:

    • The Common Proficiency Test, commonly known as CPT or CA-CPT is the Entry-level examination for Chartered Accountancy Certification in India. 

    • Conducting Board: The exam is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in compliance with the Chartered Accountants Regulations 1988.

    • Courses Offered: Chartered Accountant- Common Proficiency Test (CA-CPT) is conducted by ICAI for candidates who wish to pursue a career in Chartered Accountancy in India. 

    • Frequency: Students can apply for CA CPT twice a year.

  • Eligibility: Students can apply for the exam after completing 10th standard but are eligible to appear for the exam only once they have cleared/ completed 12th standard or 2nd-year of pre-university course.

  • Exemption: With effect from 3rd August 2012, candidates who are commerce graduates, postgraduates or have an equivalent qualification aspiring for a career in Chartered Accountancy are exempted from writing the CA-CPT examination. 

  • Results Announcement: The CA-CPT 2018 results will be tentatively published within 3-4 weeks after the exam.

  • Score Validity: Candidate's score will be considered valid for a period of 3 years.

CA-CPT 2018 Important Dates:

  • Exam: ICAI is scheduled to conduct the ICAI Common Proficiency Test (CPT) December 2018 exam will be conducted on 16th December 2018 in two sessions viz. 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm.

  • Result: The CA-CPT 2018 December examination results will be announced on 14th January 2019.

  • Application Form: The application form for the CPT 2018 December will be available from 4th October 2018 and the last date to submit the application form will be on 25th October 2018.

CA-CPT 2018 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Qualification: The aspirants must have passed 10+2 level (Senior Secondary) qualifying examination from a national or state recognized Board of Secondary Education in India.

  • Registration: The aspirants are required to register/ switch over to Common Proficiency Course with Board of Studies of ICAI before October 2, 2018. 

  • Re-validation: The aspirants must get his /her registration to Common Proficiency Course re-validated in case it has been three years since their CPT registration. Candidates must note that CPT course registration is valid only for three years.

CA-CPT 2018 Syllabus:

  • Subject-wise Syllabus: Candidates preparing for CA-CPT 2018 should refer to the detailed syllabus for each subject as this gives them a better understanding of the type and content of questions to expect in the exam. 

  • Topics: The 200 questions to be asked in CA-CPT 2018 will be based on topics like Fundamental of Accounting, General Economics, Mercantile Laws, and Quantitative Aptitude that are divided into separate sections.

CA-CPT 2018 Exam Pattern:

  • Mode: CPT 2018 exam is an offline exam (Pen and Paper Based) which requires the physical presence of the student in the Examination Hall.

  • Language: CPT 2018 Examination can be taken up in either English or Hindi, as preferred by the student. 

  • There will be one paper consisting of 200 objective type questions divided into 2 sessions. The session break up is as follows:

    • Session 1: Accounting and Mercantile.

    • Session 2: Economics and Quantitative Aptitude.

CA-CPT 2018 Application Form:

  • Application Mode: The application form is only available online. 

  • Format: The CA-CPT December 2018 application form will be available in a PDF format which needs to be printed by the candidates on A4 size sheets.

  • Correction Window: In the Application correction window, the candidate can edit/ modify details such as the medium of exam and exam centre.

CA-CPT 2018 Admit Card:

  • Availability: The applicants must download the CA CPT 2018 admit card from the official website by entering their login details. The CPT Admit card for December 2018 examination will be available for download from 3rd December 2018. 

  • Online copy: No hard copy of the admit card will be sent to the candidates, the admit card will only be available online which needs to be printed.

  • Requirement: All the candidates will have to carry the printed copy of the admit card for admission to the examination hall during CA-CPT 2018.

CA-CPT 2018 Results: 

  • Announcement: The CA CPT 2018 results will be announced by the ICAI on 14th January 2019 and candidates can check their qualifying status for Chartered Accountancy Common Proficiency Test online on the official website.

  • Format: It will be published in a PDF format, which will have roll numbers and names of the qualified candidates. The published result also mentions the qualifying status of candidates, individual subject marks and minimum qualifying marks for CA-CPT 2018.

  • Certification: In addition, candidates who obtain a minimum of 70% marks in the CA-CPT 2018 exam, will receive a “Pass with Distinction” certificate from the ICAI. 

CA-CPT 2018 Cutoff:

  • Minimum Marks: Candidates have to score the minimum marks set by the ICAI to get shortlisted for Common Proficiency Course (CPC).

  • Minimum Marks in Both Sections: The candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% average in both the sections together and a minimum of 30% marks in each section.

CA-CPT 2018 Question Papers:

  • Comprehensive Material: The ICAI provides a comprehensive reading material including a large question bank.

  • Model test papers: Candidates are advised to take benefit of the Model Test Papers and question banks.

  • Mock exam: It is essential for candidates to take up the mock exam and go through CPT 2018 previous year question papers to get an idea of the type of questions asked in the exam. 

Reservation for CPC courses:

  • No reservation: There is no Reservation scheme for candidates irrespective of the category they belong to (General/OBC/SC/ST). Admissions will be granted on pure merit basis.

  • Pass %: The pass percentage for CA-CPT June 2016 was 40.5%.

December 2016 CA-CPT exam trends:

  • Demographic information: The above graph shows the demographic distribution of the candidates who have appeared for the exam in December 2016 and qualified in the same.

  • Pass %: The pass percentage for CA-CPT December 2016 was 46%.

CA-CPT 2018 Examination Guidelines: 

  • Time of the registration: The candidate has to reach the allotted examination center 30 minutes before the start of the examination to complete the registration formalities well before the time.

  • Stationary products: Ensure carrying 2 black ball pens, 3-4 HB pencils and other requirements for examination. The candidate has to mark the responses with an HB pencil and write details with a black ball pen.

  • Carefully fill the circles in OMR sheet: Aspirants need to check twice after filling the circles in the OMR sheet and other details in the examination.

  • Use rough page for calculations: All calculations should only be done in the rough pages of the question paper. Avoid calculations at any other place.

  • Response & marks: CPT exam is more about confidence and spontaneous decisions. Attempt only those questions in which you are confident. Your every wrong attempt will reduce your marks.

  • Test conducted as per schedule: No candidate will be allowed to leave his/her seat or the examination hall until the test concludes as per schedule.

  • Scribble pads: Scribble pads will be provided to the candidates in the examination hall by the invigilators. The same should be used for all rough work.

  • Minimum attempting Qns: It's better for the candidate to attempt 160 questions with full confidence than attempting 200 questions with 40 wrong attempts.

  • Avoid carrying expensive products: Except for the CPT 2018 Admit Card and identity proof, candidates are not allowed to carry any textual material, Electronic Watches, printed or bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device inside the Examination Room/Hall.

CPT 2018 Eligibility

CPT Eligibility Summary 2018:

  • Registration: Candidates who want to appear for CPT 2018 examination must register before 4th October 2018, and apply before the registration ends which is on 25th October 2018.

  • Qualification: Applicants who have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent qualifying examination can appear for CPT 2018 and register for the professional course.

  • Age limit: There is no age limit to apply for CA CPT.

  • Exemption: Candidates holding UG/PG degree from Open University are also exempted from appearing in the entry level test.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

The four-stage procedure is as follows: Any student who has passed 10th class or any course equivalent to that can apply for the Common Proficiency Course (CPC) first. Post-qualifying for the 10+2 exam, a student has to then qualify in CPT exam. After the CPT IPCC, successful article-ship or training under an officially practicing C.A has to be done for 3 years. Then comes the CA Final. Eligibility for taking the Integrated Professional Competence Course Examination Before taking the Integrated Professional Competence Examination, the candidate must have qualified CPT. A minimum of 55% score is required for graduates/post graduates in commerce whereas other graduates or post graduates require a minimum of 60% to apply for CA. Candidates need to register 9 months prior to the exam and then complete a 100 hours of Information Technology Training. Requirements for the CA Course The following points need to be checked for becoming a CA Common Proficiency Test needs to be qualified Integrated Professional Competence Course needs to be qualified Three years Article ship or training has to be undergone under a Practicing Chartered accountant CA Final exams need to appeared.

Eligibility criteria was based on the marks of class 12th for the graduation course. I appeared for the entrance exam for CA course that is common proficiency test (CPT). An average college in DU demand about 92% to 93% in class 12th for admissions.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

The eligibility criteria were to meeting the cutoff percentage. The admission process was the same as other colleges. I took CPT examination and scored with 127 marks for it. The cutoff ranged from 95-96 percentile. 75 percentage for my course in JMC.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process
  • Eligibility criteria for studying B.com (hons) is 10+2 commerce. Rather students who don't want to study science anymore for there bachelors degree can change to commerce.
  • Admission procedure is of two types - offline and online. Most of the students choose the online mode for easy process.
  • I decided to appear for the CPT exam.
  • The typical cutoffs are 50% for general students and 45% for ST/SC/OBC students.
