For every exam, the conducting bodies prescribe a set of criteria to check the eligibility of the applicants for these exams. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has also set specific criteria for CA CPT entrance exam eligibility. CA CPT Exam Eligibility

The CPT eligibility criteria for May 2023 is as explained below. The candidates must ensure that they fulfill CPT eligibility before applying for the CPT 2023 exam. If the candidates do not meet the preset CPT eligibility requirements, the conducting body will cancel their candidature.

Qualification

The applicants must have passed or appeared in the Senior Secondary (10+2) Examination conducted by an examining body constituted by the law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto. 

Registration

The applicant must have registered for/ switched over to Common Proficiency Course with the Board of Studies of ICAI on or before 30th June 2023.

Revalidation

The applicant must have revalidated their registration to Common Proficiency Course (as applicable).

Validity

 As decided by the Council, the registration is valid for a period of 3 years and the student is required to revalidate the same from the concerned Regional Office on expiry of the said period.

Registration Number

The student must have valid registration number on the date of application to the examination. Thereby, they must ensure that their registration for the Common Proficiency Course on the date of filling examination CPT 2023 application form is valid.

Age Limit

There is no limit for CPT exam eligibility age.

CA CPT Exemption from Appearing in CA Foundation

Minimum Marks: The candidates who have graduated or completed post-graduation in Commerce securing a minimum aggregate of 55% of total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized university (including Open University) are exempted from passing CPT.

Exemption: Graduates or postgraduates other than those falling under the Commerce stream mentioned above who have secured in aggregate a minimum of 60% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by a recognized institute are exempted from passing CPT (including Open University).

CA CPT Eligibility Documents

According to the CPT eligibility rules, the applicants must have certain documents to apply for the exam. The list of documents required for CA CPT 2023 is given below.

  • Demand Draft of the payment made for the registration fees.
  • The class 10 pass certificate attested by a Chartered Accountant or a Gazetted Officer.
  • An attested copy of the Birth Certificate if the date of birth is not mentioned in the class 10 marks certificate.
  • An attested copy of the class 12 pass certificate.
  • For foreign students, an attested copy of the nationality certificate
  • Proof of special category certificate, i.e. SC/ST, OBC, and Disabled candidates.
