The National Institute of Engineering is located in Mysore established in the year 1946 by the visionary engineers- Sri Ramaswamy, Sri D V Narsimha, Sri T Rama Rao. The college became prestige since its inception for providing quality education. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.NIE offers 7 Bachelor, 11 Master’s and 5 Post-graduate Diploma programmes and has 13 Centres of Excellence. KCET(Karnataka Common Entrance test)
KCET stands for Karnataka Common Entrance Test. It is conducted by the Karnataka Education Authority(KEA) for admission in different undergraduate courses of Karnataka.

KCET Syllabus
The question papers of the Common Entrance Test will be based on the First and Second PUC syllabus prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.
KCET Pattern
KCET is conducted for two days. Each day has two sessions. On the first day, Biology and Mathematics are conducted in two sessions. On the second day, Physics and Chemistry are conducted.
Question paper is MCQ type and there is no negative marking for the wrong answers.
COMEDK
The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association namely “Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka”, COMEDK also conducts entrance examinations for all students irrespective of state. After the COMEDK entrance test is administered and the test scores and rank lists have been published, centralized counselling will be conducted. Students are given the option of selecting the college of their choice during COMEDK counselling and can choose CMRIT at this time.
PGCET
The Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test is conducted in the months of May / June each year. This test is a requirement for admission to colleges affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University. PGCET Counseling will be conducted based on the ranks that students (Karnataka candidates only) obtain in the written exam. Qualifying students can choose CMRIT at the time of Centralized Counseling.

Admission to the Institute will be made according to directives of AICTE and Karnataka Government as applicable to each academic year Admission to the B.E. Programmes will be through CET and COMED-K only. Management quota seats are also available from Branch GM SC ST Civil Engineering.
The National Institute of Engineering, Mysore. This is the second top college in Mysore for technical courses. For getting into this particular college students should be cleared 12th with decent marks and should take any of the state board common entrance exams like CET, COMED-K.
Eligibility and entrance to the college are through COMEDK. Management seats are also available. Lateral entry is also available for diploma holders to 2nd year. I took KCET. The cut off varies from year to year.
The Entrance exam is KCET, COMEDK UGET, D-Cet only. I took KCET 2000-4000 is the cut off for general category and for OBC and other castes it goes up to 15000 rankings in KCET.
The candidate must clear the COMEDK UGET exam and must have passed the 12th from a recognized institute. The cutoff rank must be below 4600.
I got admission in this college through COMEDK. We can get admission in this college through COMEDK and KCET. Normally the cutoff ranges from 4k-6k.

Here is the admission process to get youself enrolled into NIE MYSORE :
The candidate shall have passed the second year Pre University or XII Standard or Equivalent examinations held preceding the entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects :- Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology, Electronics and has secured not less than forty Five (45%) percent of the aggregate marks in optional subjects with English as one of the language for admission to Engineering and Technology Courses.
Provided further that the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility shall be forty percent (40%) of aggregate in optional subjects in case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other Backward Classes specified in the relevant Government order for the purpose of reservation in respect of Engineering and Technology courses.
