ACADEMICS & FACULTY

Usually, the classes start from 8.45 AM to 6.05PM in the evening. The CBCS curriculum prevails, in which 75 marks weightage is given to the theory examinations, 20 for Internal Assessments and a 5 for Attendance. The quality and method of teaching are one of the top 10 in the Delhi University. My overall experience in college has been enjoyable.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS

There are various numbers of societies in the SVC. Like the Western Music Society, the Indian Music Society, the Choreography Society, the Art Society, the Debate Society, the English Dramatic Society, etc. The main festival of the College is called the Nexus, it happens every year around February-March. Celebrities are invited for the special star nights. Also, there are department fests that the departments host. The college life, in general, is happening and filled with excitement.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY

The faculty is very good here. There is a common belief that if Venky was on the north campus then it would have been the best college which shows that its faculty is one of the best. English faculty particularly is very good. The faculty is quite young but very qualified nonetheless. The Commerce faculty is very strict. It has one of the best faculties when it comes to Mathematics. (Hons.)

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS

As a student of Venky, you will get a lot of exposure to learn and develop your personality. Venky is not just for its academics it also stands out for its vibrant society culture. There are about 10–15 societies which you can join to enhance and build your overall personality. Some of the famous societies are VERVE-The western dance society, NRITYANGANA- Indian Dance Society, LEONCIO- The art and craft society, DEBSOC- English Debating Society, VIMARSH-Hindi Debating Society, ASCEND- Entrepreneurship Club, ANUBHUTI- Nukkad Natak Society, VERBUM- English Dramatics Society and many more. However, they all follow rigorous recruitment procedures which can get the best out of you.

About Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University, New Delhi

Fifty years ago, three stalwarts in the public domain, Smt Durgabai Deshmukh, Dr K.L.Rao and Dr C.Anna Rao, transformed their spirited vision and dream to reality in the shape of Sri Venkateswara College. Fired with the zeal of promoting the cause of education, the college was set up at New Delhi under the benign auspices of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh in 1961.

The foundation stone for the construction of a full-fledged building in the spacious 15 acres provided at Dhaula Kuan was laid on August 20, 1961 appropriately and auspiciously by Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, India's outstanding teacher, scholar and statesman. This year, the College celebrates its golden anniversary with August 2010 ushering in our fiftieth year of pioneering excellence in the field of education.

The TTD is an autonomous organization managing the affairs of Lord Balaji. While it maintains 12 temples and their sub-shrines, it employs about about 14,000 persons and runs charitable and educational institutions throughout the country. Though the initial objective of starting a college in Delhi was to cater to the educational needs of students hailing from the Southern states of India, this TTD institution soon outgrew its regional character. It has now become one of the most sought after co-educational colleges in India.

The college has seen tremendous development since its inception. It began functioning modestly in a school building of the Andhra Education Society at Rouse Avenue, New Delhi with 273 students and 13 staff members and moved into its own spacious buildings in Dhaula Kuan in 1971.
