Rajalakshmi Engineering College is an autonomous institute and was established in the year 1997 under the aegis of Rajalakshmi Educational Trust. The members of this trust have had high experience in the area of education and industry. The college is affiliated with Anna University and is progressing towards excellence in Engineering Education, Research and Development.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College offers 12 undergraduate and 10 postgraduate programs with an intake of 1950 students annually. 9 of the departments have been recognized as Research Centers of Anna University to carry out Ph.D. and M.S. (by Research) programs and there are many scholars who have acquired Ph.D. through these research centers. Rajalakshmi Engineering College Admission is based on the cutoff marks and eligibility criteria.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College received accreditation from NBA and has been accreditated by NAAC with Grade "A". Anna University has affiliated the college for 8 programs. Rajalakshmi Engineering College Aeronautical Engineering:

The Aeronautical Engineering Dept was established in 2005. The aviation field in India is progressing at a fast pace. So the dept of Aeronautical Engineering is attempting hard to transmit the skills and knowledge that are required by the aircraft industry. The dept of the Automobile dept was started in 2006. The dept has highly dedicated and qualified faculty members and follows the Anna University syllabus.
