Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology, [NIIFT] Mohali was established in 1995 by The Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Punjab. The Institute offers state of the art hostel facilities, with programmes like Bachelors in Science, Masters in Science in various fields of Fashion and Design. The Institute also offers various placements and internship opportunities.

Located in Mohali, the campus is an exquisite example of modern architecture packed with all the relevant facilities to train and educate the students. NIIFT Mohali Admission depends upon the number of intakes for each course. The Institute organises various events like Anukama, Suvyan, and other fests. 

Here are some of the key highlights of the Institute:

The curriculum is designed to train the students in skills of fashion, design, textiles, sketching, art, history of costumes, draping, pattern making, garment construction, textile science, yarn craft, and photography. Moreover, this institute has signed an MoU with National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi.

NIIFT Mohali Campus Facilities:

• The Library has a huge collection of books and journals. It has both printed and non-printed resources. 
• The studios and labs at the institute are packed with the latest software of the apparel industry such as Tuka Studio, Tukatech, Colour Matters, ERP Software, Wins, etc.
• The Resource Centre contains samples of fabrics, accessories, and garments.
• The centre also contains garment specimens by Indian and foreign designers.
• A bus service for the students is also provided.

B.Sc Fashion Design

The course has an intake of 60 seats. The course offers training in numerous skills like design, textile, craft documentation and many more. Students also get the opportunities for industrial visits.

B.Sc Fashion Design Knits

This special programme aims at catering to the needs of Knitwear Industry and has an intake of 60 students. The students are exposed to the latest machinery and other tools along with industrial experience.

B.Sc Textile Design

One of the core segments of the Indian fashion industry, textile design is a fast emerging programme. The programmes aim to train the students to create and design the garments. The students are taught through Live Projects and Internships with various Design Companies. It has an intake of 60 students.

Postgraduate Programmes:

M.Sc Garment Manufacturing Technology

The programme has an intake of 30 students. It is a two-year programme with emphasis on management practices and production planning control. The programme aims at improving the perspective of the students towards the commercial environment of the fashion industry.

M.Sc Fashion Marketing and Management

The programme has an intake capacity of 30 students. The programme trains individuals to become efficient operation heads, store managers, visual merchandisers, retail merchandisers and many more.

NIIFT Mohali Research and Development:

• NIIFT Mohali trains top-level executives from the Vardhaman Group in the field of manufacturing.
• It runs an Entrepreneur Development Programme in Fashion Technology in collaboration with Regional Centre for Entrepreneur Development, Chandigarh.
• It offers orthotic aids and product development for Tynor Orthotic Ltd.
• It provides Advanced Vocational Training in Computer Aided Designing for the Regional Institutes of Chandigarh.
• The institute works in the development of Khes Material in khadi.
• It organises workshops for the rural women of India so they can open small enterprises on their own.
• Organises training for Sales Executives of Phulkari Emporium and many more.
