International Institute Of Management Sciences, [IIMS] Kolkata came into existence in 1979. This institute was first in India to receive All India Council for Technical Education approval in 1991. This approval was for the course PGDBA in distance learning mode. In the year 2004, IIMS commenced MBA affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology. Moreover, this institute is also affiliated to Vidyasagar University for the MBA course. IIMS Kolkata Courses for Distance Learning like MBA, MCA and many other postgraduate courses are affiliated to Pondicherry University.

Further, IIMS Kolkatta is a non-profit management institution. Since 1979, this institute has been providing Management Education in the private sector. Apart from that, this institute provides all modern facilities required for world-class education. Also, this institute has been engaged in research on socio-economic development.

In the light of developing and improving quality of education, this institute has been keeping close interface with industry, society, government, academic, students, parents and faculties.

To provide education of highest standards, this institute made advancement through an international venture with Auckland Institute of Studies (AIS). This venture has been helpful for conducting MBA and undergraduate programmes. This program structure is known as IIMS-AIS Cross Credit Pathway. Here, few modules will be conducted in India whereas few other modules of the courses will be conducted at AIS.

Another wing of IIMS is Centre for Research and Applications. This research centre undertakes research and projects. It also organises International Conferences on contemporary issues. Moreover, it publishes books and international journals.
